I know a lot of readers who love the same books I do absolutely adore this series, and honestly, I completely get why. On paper, *Blood & Steel* should’ve been a slam dunk for me. The world-building is incredibly rich, the tension is palpable, and the romantic stakes are undeniably high. This book delivered exactly what I look for in fantasy, a compelling exploration of a woman challenging her predetermined destiny through intense warrior training and personal growth. Althea Zoltaire's journey is a testament to unwavering spirit. In a world where women are forbidden to wield blades, she defies tradition, training in secret to become a warrior. With a looming prophecy of her death in three years, Althea must navigate perilous trials and a growing attraction to her chaperone, Wilder Hawthorne, all while facing an impending darkness. Her relentless pursuit of her destiny, pushing her body and mind to their limits, truly resonated with me on an intellectual level. As the author so aptly puts it, “No woman is responsible for the weak acts of a man who’s had his masculinity so easily threatened,” and Althea embodies this defiance. That said, I can completely understand why other readers are obsessed. Wilder was swoon worthy. I loved how he takes on a mentor role, his strength, and the inclusion of his pov was perfection. Enjoyed❤️‍🔥: I can tell from book one that the world of Thezmarr is going to be an intricate and beautiful world to explore. I love how Scheuerer wrote the flaws and trauma of characters in the story. Throw magic, swordfighting, reapers/wraiths, and prophecy into the mix, you bet I was hooked! Overall❤️: I highly suggest this book for those who are a fan of fast paced, and action packed fantasy romance series. "WOOOOW! I loved how this book is written: action, strategy, plots, tension, friendship, found-family, love, literally the whole package. If you loved "The Witcher", "Fourth Wing", "ACOTAR", "Divergent", well, you need to pick up this series. It's my first reading and now I'm angry with myself, I didn't start it sooner, but at least this first series is complete :))) What I loved the most about this book was how the story goes and the feeling you have at the end: it's clear there are a lot of secrets to be discovered, a lot of character development, and also word building, but also hope. I love so many characters that I fear for their lives :))) I hope I won't be crushed. I was already shocked by Wren, but I don't want to see their deaths. Wilder, every time you growl, I feel like I'm hearing Geralt. I liked him from the start and loved him until the end of the book. I can't say the same about Thea. But, like every young dreamer and especially because of her fate, I understood why she saw only her goal. But from the moment she stepped in front of that idiot of Sebastos and stood tall in front of him, I knew something had changed in her. Also, I was so glad she actually listened to Wilder's advice. Those kept her alive, and also, you see her mature and grow so much more. Torj, you are our rock. Hopefully we'll have the 3rd book in the next series soon enough and I'll be able to read the entire series :))) Cal and Kipp are pure joy, and I can't wait to see what they'll do in the next books. "I really enjoyed this story, and I am eager to see where our warriors go from here. We follow Thea as she is on the verge of becoming a shieldbearer (basically a warrior in training) after 24 years of a life being told that women are not allowed to wield a blade. She’s been spying on the current shieldbearers in secret and training on her own, hoping to one day become the ultimate warrior, a Warsword of Thezmarr. After petitioning the kings and queen of the midrealms, and saving one of the king’s lives from certain death, she is granted her life’s wish. Enter Wilder Hawthorne, the infamous and most dangerous Warsword of Thezmarr, also known as The Hand of Death. Quite fearsome we’re told, and thoroughly shown, but his immediate and soul crushing attraction to Thea was almost too much for me. He fell apart as a lover and instead of it making him stronger he just ended up as a lovesick puppy. I’m hoping that as these two progress through the second book that they actually get to know each other a bit and we get to see him figure out how to control himself. As for all of the action in this book, I’m in love. The trials, the camaraderie in Cal and Kipp, the rivalry with Sebastos, the constant undercurrent of fear, and the final initiation trial were all incredible. I felt like I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, particularly because this story just felt so believable. So often in fantasy romance you meet a girl who “defies all odds” but it’s also true that she’ll often defy the laws of physics and nature as well. In this story, Thea works hard for her place in the ranks and physically hones herself for the role. We follow her as she progresses in strength, grit, determination, and wit. Time was rather confusing in this book, and I often had no idea when large chunks had passed. I can’t tell whether I care about that too much though because I really don’t feel like we missed anything in Thea’s story. It was just occasionally jarring to be talking about a day on one page and the week after on the next. I think this may also just be that I had to learn this writing style. Overall, I had a really good time and flew through this book. It was fun and incredibly fast paced, and I feel thoroughly invested in Thea’s journey forward. ["
