About this book

Raeve’s relentless quest for vengeance remains fueled by blood and grief, but her path is complicated by the enduring, magnetic presence of Kaan Vaegor. As she grapples with the fallout of past violence, a catastrophic moonfall looms over the horizon, threatening to consume the world in chaos. Raeve finds herself at a brutal crossroads, forced to choose between the oblivion she has chased for so long and the fragile possibility of a future she never dared to imagine.

Meanwhile, Kaan struggles under the crushing weight of a crown that offers little protection against the impending ruin of his kingdom. With his allies scattered and silence echoing from those he trusts most, he must navigate a treacherous landscape of shifting loyalties and surging enemies. As their fates intertwine, the pair unearths long-buried secrets hidden within the frozen recesses of Raeve’s past.

These revelations hint at an ancient, transformative power—something "Other"—that could either save their world or accelerate its destruction. Amidst the rising tide of war and magic, Raeve and Kaan must decide if their love is a weakness to be discarded or the only weapon sharp enough to cut through the coming darkness.

Epic Fantasy - emotional, lush prose and expansive world building

"Ballad of the Falling Dragons is an epic fantasy that does not shy away from the shadows. Yes, there is romance, but it is wrapped in darkness: torture, gore, despair, and more vomit than I expected. The lore is expansive, the tension relentless, and the stakes feel higher than ever. Characters continue to evolve in meaningful ways. We step into the minds of secondary characters, adding new layers to the world. The connection between Kaan and Reave grows stronger, with intimate moments. Sarah A Parker’s prose is lush and cinematic, painting a world you can practically touch. She captures heartbreak and emotional suppression with striking clarity, showing the cost of both in ways that linger. There were times, as like the first book, I got lost in the prose and had to reread to fully capture the understanding. This book made me feel all the things. I cried, I gasped, and this book absolutely wreaked me in the best way possible. Thank you Avon and Haper Voyager and NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own. ["

I love literally everything about this series!

"I didn’t think this story could get anymore emotionally devastating, but Parker proved me very very wrong. I adore this world and these characters! It truly is like hearing a ballad sung of heroes made and monsters slain, of magic and dragons, of a love that is the world’s doom and its salvation. I was thrilled to get more characters’ perspectives — Raeve and Kaan are everything, but I adore every single character in this series. The banter, the tension, and the sheer amount of love they all have for one another. Parker is a true storyteller: her worldbuilding, character development, and lyrical prose evoke such an immersive and atmospheric experience that it’s nearly impossible to remember you’re reading a story and not experiencing these events firsthand. I love literally everything about this series — how it explores vengeance, forgiveness, and love; how it allows time for grief and healing from trauma, how it lends hope and champions having the courage to live life fully and to truly open yourself up to another. I could read these books over and over again and never tire of them while continuously discovering new details and insight. The Ballad of Falling Dragons was well worth the wait and I am so excited to see what’s in store next! Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books for the e-arc. ["
