She captures heartbreak and emotional suppression with striking clarity, showing the cost of both in ways that linger. There were times, as like the first book, I got lost in the prose and had to reread to fully capture the understanding. This book made me feel all the things. "I didn’t think this story could get anymore emotionally devastating, but Parker proved me very very wrong. I adore this world and these characters! It truly is like hearing a ballad sung of heroes made and monsters slain, of magic and dragons, of a love that is the world’s doom and its salvation. I was thrilled to get more characters’ perspectives — Raeve and Kaan are everything, but I adore every single character in this series. The banter, the tension, and the sheer amount of love they all have for one another. Parker is a true storyteller: her worldbuilding, character development, and lyrical prose evoke such an immersive and atmospheric experience that it’s nearly impossible to remember you’re reading a story and not experiencing these events firsthand. I love literally everything about this series — how it explores vengeance, forgiveness, and love; how it allows time for grief and healing from trauma, how it lends hope and champions having the courage to live life fully and to truly open yourself up to another. I could read these books over and over again and never tire of them while continuously discovering new details and insight. "The Ballad of Falling Dragons is the second installment in the Moonfall Series written by Sarah A. Parker. You are immediately immersed into her universe full of wild imaginings and diverse characters. The story picks up where the first book left off, putting the reader in a whirlwind of action, memories, and emotions. You can’t help but be swept in as it captures your attention from beginning to end. With Ballad, the author has created another colorful, living tapestry. Not one word or page is wasted as she spins her tale of love, hate, political intrigue, vengeance, betrayal, and redemption. The MFC, Raeve, is one of the strongest female characters ever written. Kaan, the MMC, proves that you don’t need to be cruel or sadistic to show strength. His ability to love and provide emotional support makes him one of my favorite book boyfriends. As much as I loved the two main characters, my favorites were their bonded dragons (Slantra, Rygun, and Liri). They had the most to say without speaking one word and wrung the most tears from me. Although many answers were revealed in Ballad, there’s still more to uncover in the next installment. Until then, I’ll try to be patient, singing Raeve’s calming tune. ["
