Best Story EVER!!!

"OMG!! What an ending! I waited all year to finish this series in English, hunted online for translations but they're never quite as clear, and now that I finally got to read the complete story I am in awe! (Except for the book of extras which I've already pre-ordered and is coming out this Fall). I love the characters SQQ and LBH and their many misunderstandings. I've read many crossover books where real live people ended up in books, fantasy places, games, etc. but never the way this author took us through the journey. Through Shen Yuan's point of view as he becomes the Scum Villain Shen Qingqiu, we get the hilarious rundown of his dissing the author of the lame book he's stuck in, there are arguments with the System which sent him into this world and requires he obey certain rules which he's set on finding ways around despite everything, and then there are the multitude of misunderstandings between him and the protagonist, Lou Binghe, who he's pretty sure according to the original book will "make him into a human stick." What he doesn't understand is that the very fact that he is in the book has subtly altered its direction and his influence on all the characters becomes more and more evident as you continue to read until what you thought was inevitable gets thrown out the window in a major reveal and Shen has to back up and start thinking in a completely new direction that never in his wildest dreams would've occurred to him. This series is hilarious, heart warming, sad, redeeming and shocking at the end, yet it is quite satisfying. Warning to those who don't like gay men... don't read this since there is one explicit scene. That's why it's rated 17+. However, for those who enjoy danmei and know what it is, this is a lighthearted delightful read well worth picking up, as are all Mo Xiang Tong Siu's books. I've started collecting all the English versions of her books; Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, Heaven Official's Blessing AND Scum Villain's Self-Saving System, and can't wait for the rest of the English versions to come out so I can complete my set!! Great author, good books!! ["

The story comes to a climax

"Volume 2 had lots of twists as Shen Qingqiu “died” and was resurrected into the new body he had prepared before facing the demon lord version of Luo Binghe. He thought to disappear and live outside the novel, but fate (and the System) finds him right back in the thick of things. He finally has to face that he is now the object of Binghe’s desire, and that Binghe has followed a dark path as a result of Qingqiu’s clueless refusal to see him for who he is, and not as the OP hero of the original novel. He begins to reflect on his own actions in light of this and finds that he hasn’t acted much better than his original scum villain self. He succeeded: the hero no longer wants to kill him. But Binghe is broken in a way that Qingqiu doesn’t know how to fix. And since he is no longer the scum villain, that means the story needs a new villain! Volume 3 introduces new characters and the System has Qinqqiu working to uncover hidden storylines (Including his own body’s spiral into villainy) and filling in plot holes on the way to the novel’s climax. Not only new characters, but existing ones are revealed to be so much more than anyone thought. Qingqiu has matured enough to see all the “characters” as real people and that will forever change how the story ends. Volume 3 is technically the conclusion of the Scum Villain storyline: the overall story arc is resolved. Binghe and Qingqiu end up together (though their first time is not romantic, or pleasurable – that is left to volume 4). The story remains self-aware, as the System acknowledges this isn’t a stallion novel any longer but a danmei one! Overall, I felt that the story was resolved well, but the romance wasn’t. Happily, there is still volume 4. ["
