Charming but flawed

"Emmy decided that Luke was her enemy when he broke her little sister's heart, and that the best revenge was getting him to fall for her and then ghost him. Years later, they have competing businesses that are given the chance to compete for funding in a deal that's forcing them to spend time together. Now, Emmy is remembering that Luke is more than just incredibly handsome, and a lot of the things she thought were facts are proving to be false. Will working side by side lead to more? It's an okay romance with charming moments and the fun inclusion of baby dragons and chimera. Emmy is a little too high-strung for my tastes, but Luke is so wonderful that he balances her out and gives the story room to breathe in between Emmy's spiraling. I did greatly enjoy that Emmy eventually talked it out and realized that it's not up to her to have everything perfect for everyone and that she's surrounded by adults who can take care of themselves. It's a great little message and shows a lot of growth for a character who seemed set on focusing on things in the past instead of moving towards the future. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of how the story is told: short, choppy sentences that feel like ideas quickly put to paper, instead of fully formed paragraphs. There's no flow to how the story is told. It gets tiring to read when it's full of stops that should have been connections. Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for the read. ["
