About this book

At the heart of the Burial Mounds, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji face a harrowing siege that threatens to mirror the tragedies of the past. As a relentless tide of walking corpses descends, the duo must navigate a labyrinth of ancient grudges and dark conspiracies to uncover the true mastermind behind the chaos. The cultivation world teeters on the brink of collapse, with long-buried secrets surfacing to shatter the foundations of the major sects and force a final reckoning.

Amidst the high-stakes battle for survival, the dynamic between the unconventional, defiant Wei Wuxian and the stoic, principled Lan Wangji deepens. Their partnership, forged in shared trauma and mutual respect, faces its most intimate test yet. A moment of drunken vulnerability ignites a shift in their connection, forcing them to confront feelings that transcend their roles as cultivators.

As they fight to protect those they hold dear, the two must decide if they are ready to bridge the chasm between their past lives and a potential future together. In a world defined by honor and dark arts, their greatest challenge is not merely defeating the enemy, but navigating the complexities of a bond that defies tradition.

Great Story, though the disjointed timeline is confusing

"I’m having trouble keeping the events of the story straight due to the story jumping around from present to past to present. At least we seem to have gotten caught up now and Volume 5 should be linear from this point. Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan are obviously misunderstanding each other in classic romance novel fashion. I blame Lan Zhan. He’s too closed off. It’s no wonder Wei Wuxian misunderstands him. And I gotta wonder…does he REALLY not remember what happens when he gets drunk? If so, why does he keep doing it? I think it’s more likely that he remembers, but pretends he doesn’t so he doesn’t have to take responsibility. Then he keeps getting drunk because he enjoys the freedom. That my theory anyway. ["
