From the very first page, I was completely wrapped up in this romantasy. The hardships these two face individually and how they grow as a couple are phenomenal. Personally, I don’t usually enjoy war-heavy plots because they tend to drag on longer than necessary. However, this book never felt slow! I loved that the battle didn’t take up three-fourths of the story. The pacing was perfect, and the conclusion was so satisfying. I could not put this book down! 😭 One of my favorite aspects was the literal DEVOTION AND WORSHIP that Daddy Dacre has for Verena. This man does not play when it comes to his woman! “Take anything you want, love. Take from me until I have nothing left to give. I am devoted to you. Everything I have is yours to take.” (…Sir, you dropped this 👑, and I seemed to have dropped my 👙.) “The rest of the kingdom will fall to their knees before you, Verena.” “But please allow me to be the first.” “Allow me to show you how you should be worshipped.” (Screaming, crying, and throwing up—this man!!!) I adored this book—the tenderness, the passion, and the fact that Dacre would literally burn the world down for Verena. Holly wrapped up this series so perfectly, and I’m devastated that it’s over.
