About this book

Betrayed by their allies, the last of the Picts have escaped to the innermost part of an endless, dark forest, content to remain hidden there forever. Made queen at just a child, Cyrene has given all of her life and heart to the task of making sure her people are never terrorized again. When a handsome stranger from the kingdom that betrayed them falls injured at the boundary of her village, she’s forced to choose between mercy and duty. The second son of a ruling monarch, Duncan would never be considered for the throne, neither did he wish to be. But when a plague sweeps through the land, he is the only one of royal blood left standing. Returning to the tower that holds too many dark memories, the truth of his father’s tangled reign begins to unravel and Duncan is once again forced into a role he never wanted.

A New Top Clean Read for me! Historical Romance at its finest!

""It is ye that is the sun, my bonnie Huntress. Ye are every summer day, every blossom of spring flowers, every warm breath of wind across the seas." The Huntress For fans of Nichole Van, Ashley Worrell, and A. L. Sowards, you will love this beautifully written angsty story full of all the emotions that will have you captivated from start to finish! I'm sitting here trying to write this review, rendered completely speechless by this superb story and audiobook that has captivated me "body, heart, and soul". literally am speechless. The Story: Everything about the story was incredible. I felt completely immersed in the medieval historical world that this author has created and really wish I could just time travel there to be there. She vividly paints the scenes, the emotions, the swoony closed-door romance, the battle scenes, everything! I loved the characters, the plot, the Chr!stian messages, the themes of bravery, loyalty, and sacrifice for others. She conveys the Chr!stian messages of love and charity, of following the L0rd, redemption and forgiveness, and many others so perfectly. I was uplifted and felt closer to my Sav!or because of this story. I loved how loyal all of the characters were to their respective people--Duncan and Eowin to theirs, and Cyrene, Astrid, Revna, and Gertrud have for theirs. I loved our two main characters, but what endeared me to them was the care they have for their people and the fierce loyalty the side characters have toward them. Both Duncan and Cyrene were beautifully written. The emotions portrayed throughout the book were so well done. This story is a true enemies-to-lovers! There are things that happened that cause this hatred, but wow the transformation and the understanding they begin to have as they learn the truth! Highly recommend this incredible story! I will be recommending it to anyone who will listen until the end of time! Definitely a top read for me ever! The Audiobook: WOW!! This is the best audiobook I have ever listened to and that's saying something since I listen to lots of audiobooks! It was completely immersive with music, cheering when the crowds cheered, and the best performances by Eilidh Beaton and Joshua Ward! Favorite Parts: Immersive Enemies to Lovers Medieval with a touch of fantasy Chr!stian themes She takes care of him (sort of) Betrayal Nothing is as it seems Political intrigue Touch of mystery Marriage ceremony Marriage of convenience Sacrifice and loyalty Epic battle scenes Mystery reveals The love confession The ending Whole Book Content Guide: Pass!onate k!ssing, mild fade-to-black scene between married couple, mild medieval v!olence, some mild g0re, Chr!stian messages, loss of loved ones and d3ath on page, domestic ab*se Book Info: Series: The Huntress book 1 Genre: Christian Historical Romance; Medieval Romance Level: Closed-door Release Date: Available Now Narrators: Eilidh Beaton & Joshua Ward Publisher: Windstep Audio POV: Duet Third Person ["

Engaging story

"I loved that the westling with the characters past suffering, failures, sins, and God was true to life. It was not overdone, in other words, not line upon line of overly ruminating on the past. Those moments were balanced with the fast-paced action of the story. Tastefully done with no need to blush, the novel was an engaging story that I couldn't put down. ["
