Reclaimed: Shadow Beast Shifters, Book 2
Jaymin Eve
AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES&USA TODAY BESTSELLER! From the bestselling author of the Shadow Beast Shifter series, Jaymin Eve, comes SPELLCASTER an all-new, intense enemies-to-lovers romantasy with steamy heat, magical creatures, fast pacing, and stakes that will keep you hooked. Told in duet narration featuring Savannah Peachwood and Jason Clarke, dive into a world where love is as dangerous as power—and nothing is ever as it seems... Welcome to Weatherstone College… Don’t walk the halls late at night. Don’t disturb the ancient magic. And don’t, under any circumstances, ever trust a spellcaster. When my magic bloomed at twenty-two, the last thing I expected was to receive an acceptance letter to the most prestigious witch college in the world. It’s not that I don’t have magic. It’s just…unpredictable. But with Weatherstone a part of my family legacy, I’m determined to live up to their expectations. A task that’s almost derailed on my very first day when I come face-to-face with Logan Kingston, the son of my father’s enemy. I’m warned to avoid the powerful spellcaster at all costs, but apparently Logan did not receive the same memo. The more time I spend around him, the more I crave his unsettling attention, and as hate flirts with obsession, I’m left wondering if there’s another side to the decades-old feud between our fathers. On top of that, Weatherstone is not at all like I expected. Built on the ancient blood of necromancers and battle, the magic here is as unpredictable as mine, and I sense a dark energy stalking my footsteps. When a monster attacks me, I have no choice but to turn to the strongest warlock in our school: Logan. After all, to fight a monster, I’ll need a monster. It has an easy world building, fun characters, mysteries that kept the suspense, and a hot af MMC! I am relieved that Paisley (the heroine) actually has a great relationship with her siblings. I love seeing the sibling-hood they had. I was getting tired of reading books with strained or awful sibling relationships. I also love how Jaymin Eve (the author) always includes strong female friendships in her books. Having girlies in your corner is important so I love that so much. I actually like Paisley, even though she does stupid stuff sometimes🤣, but she’s like 22?? Every girl is allowed to be stupid at 22. Logan is hot and powerful, but we as readers literally did NOT get a chance to know him the entire book because we were viewing him through Paisley’s eyes only. She did not know him at all. I actually really like that mystery too. I hope we get the real Logan in the next book, which I am reading IMMEDIATELY ["

"The long awaited review for Spellcaster. 1 star. No I'm kidding! I read this book in March of this year and immediately was like September for it to come out for the world but when is an appropriate time to ask when book 2 will be coming out? (This is me asking but not, maybe a little) I tried to be chill in my reading of this but if you give me a school environment, make it magical, and give me a "stay away from him" type of book, unfortunately I'm sat. I loved the magic system and felt like it was set up in a way that I understood right away and wasn't too confusing, plus any confusion I had Paisley the fmc had so we were learning together. If you've read other Jaymin Eve books, this has the same fun addictiveness that I think she just creates naturally as well as the untrustworthyness built into the friends because I swear so far in a lot of the books she's written im loving the friend group next thing you know they're the reason a main character is coming up missing and it now has me side eyeing all the friends cause some of the math isn't mathing 🤨 The ending of course was a cliffhanger but it did answer a question or two i had but unfortunately left me with a couple other ones... I should also note that the audio for this is so good, Logan has an accent I can get behind and the regular male narrator had me feeling like I really was in a classroom. Like why was I sitting up listening to the lessons like it really was a lesson? The female narrator was so good too, unfortunately helping to feed into my suspicions about the friends😔 I will be sitting here waiting normally for book two announcements 🙂 very normally. Not on the edge of my seat or anything at all. Nope. Just let me know, Australian time if you have too, I'll keep my sound on... ["
