Shot in the Dark: Shot in the Dark Series, Book 1
Mary Dublin
Two months after her exile from Elysia, Sylvia is adrift in a world both strange and exhilarating. As she journeys toward Aelthorin with Jon and Cliff, every step is fraught with uncertainty. Though she promised her mother she'd reunite with her family, Sylvia finds herself drawn deeper into a forbidden bond with Jon. Jon struggles to suppress his growing feelings for Sylvia, determined to help her obtain a powerful gemstone that could grant her the impossible–a power that might allow them to be together. Their journey takes a dangerous turn when they are forced to stop in a sleepy bayou town, where a hidden darkness waits. Jon and Cliff are forced to confront their past when old companions—fellow hunters—emerge, bringing secrets and a new, sinister mystery. The hunters' outpost is under new control, dealing monster remains to a mysterious client, and Jon and Cliff are thrust into the deadly web. As new allies—sirens and fairies woven in an ominous partnership—emerge, Sylvia and Jon are forced to confront what they're willing to sacrifice to defy their destinies–and what might be left of them if they fail. Contains mature themes.
AprilEven better than the first one 🧚♀️
"As delightfully fun as the first book, with more (mis)adventures and more supernatural creatures. We also get to meet some other hunters...for better and for worse. 👀 Sylvia and Jon are both still struggling with the fact that their relationship is doomed, and whether they should get their hopes up about defying their fate or protect their hearts and accept that they're not meant to be. It's sweet and angst-ridden, especially since we get both of their perspectives as they navigate their feelings. Even though Cliff isn't a romantic lead (yet), I think he's shaping up to be my favorite. He's witty, sarcastic, and sincere. I'm excited to see where the rest of this series goes. ✨️ ["

Electroclan17A lot of quotable moments (in a good way)
"This book was a lot of fun still but I did enjoy book 1 more. I really enjoyed the first half of the story more than the later moments, especially the hunt against the vampires. ["
