"More twist and more turns, ahhh! Aside from everyone getting kidnapped way too many times, this story has the BEST plot twist! It is very well written. There were no dull spots, the story continued to flow and keep my interest.(I’ve wasted the entire day away reading this series, and YES I am about to ignore life some more while diving into book 3) We have a little more spice than book 1 but honestly, this is one of those stories that you are addicted to BECAUSE of the actual story line. There could be 0 spice and I would still be hooked! Elise grows even stronger, she finds more strength and never stops fighting no matter what. She stopped being as reckless this go around. I fell even more in love with her sarcasm, wit and hilarious banter. Your going to laugh, and cry, and gasp, swoon, get angry, but then laugh some more. You’ll feel ALL the feels and connect to the characters on an even deeper level. I wouldn’t say this one ended on a cliffhanger, more like it ended with the promise for an even juicer part 3. **spoilers** If Jarl gets away one.more.time. I’m going to lose IT! Elise better be ready when it’s time to off her sister, with NO hesitation. Valen took to long to get his junk together, but I’m glad he stopped running, from everything. I guess I’ve read too many reverse harems, I kinda of wanted Ari to be Elise’s man too lol, two kings, yes please. Speaking of Ari, I don’t like the way he treated Valen and the Guild, you shouldn’t force cooperation or loyalty. Tor was such a grump at the beginning but the more I learned about him the more his “sunny” disposition made sense. He became better at the end but his continued and unwavering loyalty to Valen makes him good in my book. I’m interested to see if Junie and her husband actually show up in the story agains. Go to book 1 and read from there! ["

"I have found I am "first book in a series girl." So I always love the first book. And then the following books have to be really good to keep me going. And despite that I take a LOT of breaks. So me finishing this book relatively quickly to be me, speaks volumes. I really do love this series. I love the characters, and was fun to be introduced to even more characters. The magic is special and different, the world doesn't feel that massive. But instead has an insane history and witch so much dept, heartache, and a lot of substance. I especially loved that the story does not leave on a massive cliffhanger, because it doesn't need it. The story itself is so good that you would want to read the next book and find out what more happens, to get answers and to spend more time with characters you come to love. ["

Legion to keep Elise safe & Elise because she thinks Legion doesn’t feel the same for her as she does him. The trials, battle & rescues continue in book 2 with some new likable characters & some past characters. I was unsure about Ari at first. Does he just want power & the throne? Does he really care more about his people & what is best for all of them? Junie is one of my favorites. You don’t see much of Casper & Steig, but they seem like good loyal characters. I don’t like or trust Ulf. Something just seems off with him. I’m glad Mattis is back with the crew. I wish he would listen to reason though. He & Siv are made for each other. Jarl is a leeching, cowardly, cockroach. Calista is mouthy, spunky, sneaky & super smart. I really like her. It seems our story is far from over, How will our favorites fare in this war? "I have to tell you, this series is growing on me! I love the story arc, the character development, the pining, and the twists! We left off the first book with Elise and Valen separating, but the Court of Ice and Ash soon brings their paths together again. Elise, the Rouge Princess, is allied with the true folk of the land and their chosen fae king to try and bring change to their world. In the meantime, Valen is focused on revenge for his family and sabotaging the false king and queen. But they are brought together again, rescuing a friend and demolishing a prison. To the readers' exasperation, though, our love birds are far from love and happiness! Valen's insistence on keeping his distance from Elise was quite frustrating to witness. Especially with him running hot and cold with her. I liked it that we finally got dual POV and could see into Valen's head! Elise was no less infuriating with not being able to resist the man. And I know love should win and all, but their pining was annoying. The story arc brings us closer to the land, finally taking a true king, chosen by the soil and all the people. Valen insists on remaining a prince and keeping his identity a secret. But Elise is adamant about bringing change to the world, and Valen can not resist her pull. The characters were still amazing. Our two MCs are unique, and though sometimes a bit daft are strong. The supporting mob of characters, Valen's guild and Elise's friends, and new allies bring joy and depth to the story! I thought this would be the end of the story of this land, but another book is out and becons me to read it to finally see how this story continues. ["
