"This was such a great duo and LJ’s writing is truly amazing. If you haven’t started this series yet, I highly suggest you do so My favorite part of this book was the character development of the side characters. LJ has created some absolutely incredible characters that are so easy to fall in love with. Each and every one of them is so special and unique. Sewell, Celine, and Jonas are in the running for my favorite side characters and each hold a special place in my heart The romance between Liv and Erik really blossomed in this book. If you’re looking for an MMC that would truly burn the world down for his woman, Erik Bloodsinger is your man. The love those two characters have for each other is so beautiful and the spicy scenes in this book were just as good as book one I did find the pacing of this book to be a lot slower than book one. At times I felt it was a bit more difficult to stay engaged, compared to book one where I was hook, line, and sinker from beginning to end. Howeverrr, the battle scene in this book was EPIC! It took a bit more work to get there but the final battle scene in this book was well worth the effort I truly love this duo so much and it has made its place into not only one of my favorite reads of the year but one of my favorite series. I’m so so so excited to read The Mist Thief and get a whole book of Jonas and continue with the stories of the Ever Seas ["

This one was a struggle...

"Honestly, I really struggled with the first half of this book. As flawed as The Ever King was, I still really enjoyed it so I was thrilled to get into this book. But the first half was all over the place. It felt chaotic and unfocused and that information was just thrown in as afterthoughts. It did get better in the second half. There was a more unified focus and the story aligned better. Also, there was a big pirate battle scene that was amazing so that helped redeem a lot of the issues in the beginning. Ultimately, even with all it's many faults, I do really like this story and these characters. I wouldn't say it's close to a favorite, or that Erik Bloodsinger deserves to be on the list of book boyfriends. But this is definitely a different twist on fae fantasy and for that, I really appreciated it I will be reading the third book because I'm definitely invested enough to want to know how Jonas story plays out. Lots of action, wanted more character development

"Reading The Ever King reminded me of reading ACOMAF, and reading The Ever Queen felt like reading ACOWAR. I absolutely adored the first book in this duology, and while there was a lot that I enjoyed about The Ever Queen, it didn’t hit that same sweet spot that the first book did. I think this mostly comes down to my own feelings as a reader, I am predominantly a romance reader, and I tend to lose interest in books and series once the main characters get together for good. If you love epic action books, then I think you’ll really enjoy this one! But for me, who likes a little more character driven stories, I had a harder time connecting with the characters while reading this one. I really liked that it brought in characters that we met at the beginning of The Ever King, but I wish that I had gotten to know them better. For me, the strongest aspect of this book was The Ever King building relationships with his new allies, and I think if there had been a little more conflict with this, or maybe added POVs, it would have made me like the book more. Without spoiling anything, I think that the resolution phase of the book made the book feel uneven - there were a lot of mysteries to uncover, and they were all uncovered AFTER defeating the bad guy, instead of being explored throughout the book, and having those discoveries lead to the main characters being able to defeat the antagonist. 🎧Part of my disconnect with this one may have been that I didn’t vibe with the narrators this time around. I think I did more immersive reading with the first book, so I didn’t listen to the audio quite as deeply. I listen to a lot of historical romance, so I’m used to a very specific British accent, so when I got this fantasy British-but-not…it just grated on my ears. BUT I am not an accent queen so maybe they were doing a different accent and I’m just being a jerk. All that to say that I liked this, but I LOVED The Ever King, and I think a lot of readers will love this even more than the first book. ["
