Devour the Snake: A Captain Hook, Crocodile, and Wendy Darling Reimagining (Devourer Series, Book 3)
Nikki St. Crowe
DELUXE EDITION―featuring gorgeous stenciled edges, a map, endpapers, and a case stamp. No one is safe on the Yellow Brick Road. Dorothy Gale doesn’t know where she came from. At the age of five, she was dropped on Em and Henry’s doorstep while a terrible storm rolled across the Kansas prairie. Now as an adult, Dorothy has made the most of her life on the farm. But when a cyclone tears through the night, ripping her, her dog, and the farmhouse away, Dorothy wakes to find herself far from home in the strange, cursed land of Oz. Desperate to find her way back, Dorothy takes the advice of the Witch of the North and sets off on the yellow brick road to find a wizard…with a warning to avoid forest monsters, heartless mercenaries, and wicked witches. It isn’t long before Dorothy encounters the dark side of Oz, stumbling on a man beaten and bloody, tied to a pole in a cornfield. Not unlike the scarecrows on the Kansas farm. With no memories, the mysterious stranger joins Dorothy. Rook is ridiculously handsome, endlessly charming, and somehow understands Dorothy in a way no one ever has. But when they cross paths with the infamous Tinman and his axe, Rook proves he may be hiding his own secrets. Nothing and no one is what they seem in the cursed land of Oz…maybe even Dorothy herself.

"The reason I love Nikki St. Crowe’s books are that they are fast pace and have stakes. This delivered on both of those things. In a completely new story from her previous Peter Pan world. This Wizard of Oz retelling has all the pieces of the original story while being new! Loved. 🎧 this narration is a dual narration with a full cast. The line up of narrators is impressive, but I hate being mislead like that. The narrators did a good job, but I just really don’t like dual narrations. ["

Bryan & Lanae KirbyConstantly kept me guessing! AMAZING reimagining!
"Honestly, this book shocked the heck out of me. I had high hopes, and it had a little rocky of a start. I did find the shorter chapters and multiple POVs to be confusing, BUT, the plot had me absolutely devouring the story and discussing theories with a friend and the ending had me BLOWN. First, I enjoyed the characters. They were intriguing and multidimensional. Like I didn't automatically like or hate them. And I was suspicious of EVERYONE. Which is one of my favorite things when reading. I was questioning everything and whether characters actions were good, or bad. I really liked the changes to the story. We've all watched the original movie and a lot of us have read or seen Wicked. So I had all those plots in my mind, but then was like, ok so what is gonna be different. And I was very surprised. Some of my theories were right, a lot were wrong, and the ending? THAT ENDING? Wild. I now have approximately 848493 more questions and my theories are multiple. When does book two come out? I need it asap. *note for people who loved her never after series? Just be warned this is no where NEAR the spice level. I was kinda surprised, so def know that going in! ["
