The White Cat's Divine Scratching Post (Novel) Vol. 1
Lv Ye Qian He
by Lv Ye Qian He
Prince Cheng spends his life chasing the throne and indulging in fleeting romances, leaving his loyal prince-consort, Mu Hanzhang, in the shadows of a loveless marriage. It is only as Cheng breathes his final, blood-soaked breath that he realizes the man he consistently neglected is the only person who stayed by his side until the end. Fate grants him an impossible reprieve when he awakens in the past, back to the morning following their strained wedding night.
Armed with the memories of his failures and the bitter sting of his previous death, Cheng commits to a new path. He vows to protect and cherish the man he once disregarded, placing Mu Hanzhang above his own political ambitions. However, securing his husband’s heart is a delicate challenge; Mu Hanzhang is a man of duty and reserve, already accustomed to the cold indifference Cheng once showed him.
As Cheng attempts to bridge the emotional distance between them, he must navigate the treacherous waters of court intrigue. With enemies lurking in the shadows of the palace, Cheng must outmaneuver those who seek his downfall, ensuring that this time, his devotion to his wife does not cost them both their lives.
Eponine821Fast paced and intriguing
"Fast paced and intriguing. I liked the dichotomy between the two leads. Each was strong in the way his spouse was weak. So once they learned to communicate and trust each other, they were unbeatable. Interestingly, there are several depictions of male-female marriage, at varying levels of affection between the parties, but none of the female wives are true partners to their husbands. The second prince, for example, appears to like his wife, but he clearly does not respect her ability to understand the complex situations he finds himself in, so she can’t possibly advise him. Meanwhile, Junqing is a true partner to Jing Shao, and even the second prince trusts his judgment. Not to make this a feminist rant about the patriarchy or anything. I just thought it was an interesting facet of the story how men interact with each other vs. how they interact with women. “Gentlemen wives” are scorned on a certain level, but are far more capable of attuning to their husbands than a woman would be. Amazon CustomerGreat fun
"Quite entertaining! It’s nice to see a time travel/rewind story where the character who knows the original timeline realizes they messed up but who does not automatically know every step to happily ever after. I enjoyed the way both of the leads seemed to be developing a genuine partnership even beyond their growing romantic feelings. As they learned to rely on each other, it really did start to feel like a case of each shoring up the other’s weakness. There was just enough melodrama to make it wonderful soap opera, enough spice to season the dish, and the comedy kept the serious bits from dragging. I wouldn’t consider it on the same level as some other series I’ve read in the genre, but this novel was extremely satisfying and delivered exactly what I was looking for based on the story summary. I’m looking forward to reading the next volume! ["

Joyce K.Ok but needs less court intrigue
"I liked the idea of the book. I just really wanted more relationship and less court intrigue. I actually skimmed through all the court intrigue pages. I had planned on pre-ordering the next two books in this series but I'm not sure I want to invest in a book I skim through. ["

Mew RyuuHigh expectations, met!
"Had very high hopes for this series, and was thrilled when it arrived. Before my new method of reading the first three chapters online, I didn't know what to expect. Easy read, the main pairing is very charming in my opinion. Not a dark and gritty series, so far at least, so I can recommend it. Too many Danmei's are so dark and heart wrenching, always well written but some time you just want an easy read with satisfying victories. Who knows where the story's going next but i'm excited. ["
