"Oh my goodness. This book. Wow. Just wow. It. Is. Everything. This book is even more phenomenal than the first one. It was definitely a stay up too late, cannot put it down, it should get 1,000 stars kind of book. The Greek mythology based storyline continues to be imaginative, the characters were real and relatable, and the writing was addictive. The world building (this time within Tartarus) was phenomenal, woven together scene by scene, layer by layer until it became a living breathing place full of three dimensional beings. Plus, story will have you feeling all the deep emotions - laughing, crying, swooning, cringing, teeth gritting, knuckle biting, raging, and cheering. I was right there with Lyra feeling all the things. Phew. This book picks up right where book one left off. Lyra is a new goddess who after winning the Crucible, managed to get locked in Tartarus with her friend and new God Boone along with the worst gods, the Titans. To get out, Lyra will have to survive all the tests that Tartarus throws at her. But if she gets out, so do the Titans. Meanwhile in the Overworld, Hades is losing it and the world might not survive his rage. Lyra’s journey is filled with arrogant Titans, terrifying monsters, impossible tasks, difficult choices, mysteries, revelations, hard choices, pain, death, and heaps of physical and emotional overload. The book has a little bit of everything just like you would expect from this genre - sweet moments, spice, real life issues, imperfect characters, dangerous moments, supernatural creatures, secrets, plot twists, painful pasts, evil actors, and love. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series and see what happens next with Lyra and Hades because that ending…Ahhhhh. ["

"Did I almost throw this book across my living room? Yes. Yes, I did. Did I say WTF? Yep. Did I love the book? Yep. But am I pissed? Absolutely, I am. UGH. For real?! I cried at some points, ffs! I will just say this book felt like a betrayal! Ugh! That’s all I’m saying as I don’t want to give away spoilers… anyways. This book was amazing (even if I’m pissed off and feeling betrayed. Facts are facts. The book is amazing). I was nervous going in because let’s be honest book 1 and The Crucible was hell, and the ending was like TF! This book is nothing like I expected, TBH (well, some was, but that’s a given). The Titans especially blew me away. I liked the way the book weaved into its plot. It’s just sooo good, the way things came together. My heart hurt though. It really did, and I can see some people being frustrated with that aspect of the book. But it made me like more invested in the romance, I guess if that makes sense. Either way, I was completely consumed by this book. Will I be reading book 3? 100%! Do I feel different about the world itself? Yes, and no. It’s complicated. It depends on how book 3 plays out, I suppose. Can I say we will see? Lol. There is a little spice, but the book is more plot focused (and the romance is intertwined into the plot). This really is such a good book IMO. This fantasy romance is book 2 in the Crucible series. This book’s romance is an emotional pre established relationship from book 1. This book does have some mild open door spice. Lyra is trapped and has to find a way out. Her way out comes with some extra attachments and is dangerous. There are 7 locks she has to unlock before she can get free, and she isn’t alone. The Titans are trapped here too. Meanwhile, Hades is fighting even himself to get her free. ["

"In this book Lyra finds herself trapped in Tartarus with Boone in a rescue mission gone wrong. The only way out is for Lyra to unlock each of the 7 locks to escape, and that means bringing the Titans with her. But are the Titans the monsters that the world believes them to be or has someone else been pulling strings to make the world believe this (honestly my money is on Aphrodite, maybe Demeter)? There's an interesting past, present, future multiple timeline feature in the book that was confusing at times. But pulls together decently for as many scattered pieces as there were. Overall, I can't wait for the last book to be released and have already preordered. ["
