"I utterly love when books that I pick up on a whim, that weren’t on my radar become my favorite, it reminds me each and every time to step outside of my TBR, try new authors, new releases, or old ones and constantly find more books I want to read. I went into this book blind, vaguely knowing it was set in the same setting as The Wren in the Holly Library, but before the Monster War but I did not expect a political, vampire romance that included so many fun twists that I enjoyed every moment of this book. I told a friend of mine how much I loved it by 10% and I knew it would be a good one, and I wasn’t wrong, this will easily make my top books of the month! Reyna is financially struggling in a post-modern time where vampires rule the city, and signs up to be a blood donor, where you live with vampires month by month so they can feed on the same person as vampires have to feed on those with the same blood type as them. While she is being hired, turns out there is a new type of position where you stay with the vampire permanently, and it’s just rolling out so Reyna gets placed with an executive of the blood matching company. Beckham keeps his distance from Reyna from the start, sees it as a business transaction but is attracted to her, and isn’t ready for the temptation of her with him 24/7. These two have the forced proximity, animosity between them that spices up each scene and makes this book so enjoyable. Their romance is the best part of this book, and I can’t wait to continue, I’ll be desperate for the next book until it releases. I also loved the political storyline between the vampires and the humans, the mandatory blood type registry, the predator/prey symbiotic relationship and so much more about the evils of capitalism. This book weaves great themes and lessons while giving you an angsty romance which I just loved so much! ["

"I loved The Wren in the Holly Library, so when KA Linde stated that this book was set prior to that one, I knew I had to get it. Reyna lives with her two brothers in the poorest of areas outside the city. She decides to join the blood match program to help support her siblings. Beckham is one of the top executives at Visage, the company that created the program. Only now, they have stated a permanent residency program and he’s matched with Reyna. But of course, nothing is what it seems. This was such a fun read. I really like Beck. Reyna is a bit immature, but I have to remember she’s young. There are a couple of twists that surprised me, and it ends on a cliffhanger. Definitely worth the read. ["

This will discuss the new, rebranded book and the earlier edition, Blood Type

"K A Linde has recently rebranded her 2018 series, Blood Type. The first of the trilogy is already out and we are expecting the second book to be ready October 21st, 2025. For a short time all three audiobooks of the original series were free to listen with an Audible account, and I was curious, so I bought the eBook for the new version and listened to the old. I was curious to see how much had actually changed. Honestly, not a lot. There were a few scenes in Blood Type that were not in The Monster and the Last Blood Match. Certain terms were used more heavily in Blood Type than the other. The Monster and the Last Blood Match has an additional chapter at the end through the ML’s point of view. If I had to do it again which version would I pick? That’s a tough question. With the older version I have instant gratification- no waiting for release dates. On the other hand, the newer version has a gorgeous paper copy, and extra chapter and the audio will be done by a different narrator- Stephanie Nemeth-Parker, who also narrated the Oak and Holly series (while this narrator was good, she is spectacular). Keep in mind, the audio for the rebranded version will not be ready until November 4th. As my main reason for wanting to read the series at all was the fact that I am obsessed with the Oak and Holly series and wanted some context for the monster wars and things that happened prior to this timeline; I would probably still listen to the old versions. Which, by the way, is how I found myself paying $16 for an audiobook because I was too slow to get to read all three for free- or even more than one. Now then, let’s get into the regular book review. There will be spoilers ahead, I will try to keep it to a minimum. I wanted to like these characters more than I did. Reyna was an interesting character, loyal and warm. I loved the relationship she had with her brothers. Unfortunately, I simply could not see the attraction between Reyna and Beckham. During the first half of the book it was hard to like either lead character. There was noticable growth with each through the story, but not enough. It could be that I was spoiled by The Wren in the Holly Library. I absolutely loved Kierse and Reyna seemed…. not just weaker, but petulant in comparison. It looks like we’re gearing up for a glow-up though so her character may come into their own in the next books. The world building was good, and it had a good flow to it. I love the premise, as I was really excited to know more about how the world got to where it was in the later series. I’m excited to see where we’re going and have already started book two. For me, this is a three star book. I enjoyed it, but it isn’t one that’s going to stay with me. I don’t think I will be fangirling over Reyna any time soon. ["

"I read The Monster and the Last Blood Match by K.A. Linde back in February. I bought it last year and I can’t believe I waited so long. I do have the physical book on my shelf with the beautiful sprayed edges, but I listened to the audiobook on Audible. The narrator did a fantastic job. The slow burn between Beck and Reyna was burning. This is a good vampire read. The world, the tension, the dynamic between them, the steamy-ness...I enjoyed it all. Now onto book two, The Captive and the First Blood Game. It’s also on my shelf and yes, I have the Audible audiobook of it too 😂 ["
