About this book

Reyna Carpenter’s life is defined by the dangerous intersection of survival and desire. After being betrayed and held captive within the heart of a cutthroat vampire empire, she finds her freedom stripped away and her blood claimed by those who seek to exploit her unique power. Her only tether to sanity is the memory of Beckham, the vampire who captured her heart and fundamentally altered her existence.

When Reyna finally breaks free, she discovers a world irrevocably transformed. The delicate balance between humans and vampires has splintered, and the lines of loyalty have been redrawn in shadow. She is no longer the vulnerable girl who once wandered into the dark; she has been hardened by her ordeal and forged into a weapon.

Yet, her reclamation of freedom remains incomplete as long as she is separated from the man who holds her soul. Faced with a society that views her as a prize to be controlled, Reyna must navigate a treacherous landscape of greed and political intrigue. To win back her life and secure her future with Beckham, she must stop merely surviving and start fighting, proving that she is the most dangerous force in the game.

What readers are saying

Ashley Hess

Book 2 in the series with Vampires, Rebellion, & Spice

"This book picks up right where The Monster and the Last Blood Match leaves off, and since it’s another vampire story, I was immediately in. I really love the world and the storyline this series is building. The writing style also makes these books incredibly easy to read, I flew through this one in just over a day, just like the first book. And that ending! The cliffhanger completely caught me off guard. I definitely didn’t see it coming, and now I’m already impatiently waiting for book three. ["

Absolutely fantastic!!!

"I got the first book as a blind book date, finished it in a day. Ordered this one the next day and finished it within a day and a half. Easy read, fantastic plot twists. I sobbed at the end, can’t wait to get the third one when it comes out. By far one of my favorite stories I’ve read in a long time. Absolutely fantastic. ["

Middle child syndrom

"This unfortunately suffers middle book syndrome and there is something about the writing that feels...off. Now that I've got that out of the way, I must say this cliffhanger has me climbing the walls. The build up was a river of molasses that eventually heated up and drowned us all. There were so many new characters and I have trust issues to genuinely like any of them. The betrayal was obvious as were some of the traps, it just kept speed bumping to get there. I was satisfied, but it didn't hold me by the throat like I was hoping until the last 5 pages. ["

Book 2 in an addictive series

"Thank you to Tantor Media and K.A. Linde for entrusting me with a review copy! The Captive and the First Blood Game by K.A. Linde Blood Type Book 2 Narrated by Stephanie Németh-Parker Stephanie did a great job with this narration! I always enjoy Stephanie's performances and she continues to bring these characters to life! Modern dystopian world with vampires in control, mystery, interesting blood system where vampires need a certain blood type, rich and protective MMC, mine, rebellion, betrayal, secrets and reveals, cliffhanger I devoured this book! Reyna's situation definitely took a downturn in the beginning of this book. Once things finally improve, they immediately go wrong again! Reyna continues to make some frustrating choices. I still love Reyna and Beck together! We got more answers and intrigue in this book and so much happened! Ahhhh that ending!! I can't wait for book 3!! I NEED it!!! ["
