"Normally, I share part of the story at the beginning of my review. This time so much happened early on that set the pace for the rest of the tale, I won’t, in order not to spoil the opening delivery. The past isn’t as Travis thought. His cousin Eldrin wasn’t the savior he had believed him to be. He knew things but was unwilling to reveal them without the assurance of immunity and safety for himself. Even in the face of the mating marks Lira and Travis shared, Pyralis and his parents were unwilling to give up their claim on her. While Travis would darken the whole world before he gave Lira up. His years of ruling, at a young age, in a dead land, over people who had lost all hope, made him determined not to lose the one person in the whole world he loved. Nor would Lira ever agree to bear the dragon heirs they so demanded. Her years on Earth had taught her compassion for others and to search for solutions that would benefit all the people of Ardanos. She refused to give in without a fight. As I passed through the pages, engrossed in all that I knew of the story from the first two books, I felt like I could be seated in a dark theatre watching the tale play out before my eyes, it was so well written. So, how it all begin… With both sides finally coming face to face, it will take the words of a traitor to learn of the past. On both sides there is truth, lies, treachery, villains, innocents, and choices that weren’t well thought out or executed. In the end, it left the Unseelie to endure years of starvation and death while feeding on their hatred. And Lira betrothed to man whom, she would never willing belong. There was blindness on both sides. They didn’t see the source that pitted them against each other, nor did they recognize the desire of some to rule over all of Ardanos. However, it was the bond that flowed through Travis and Lira the one thread that could not be broken, that pulled others in making them question what they thought they knew to be the truth, made them listen. At the heart of this series there were two stories, for me. The love Travis and Lira had for each other from its inception through the grueling reunion to the reawakening of the mating bond between them was front and center. The mystery behind the fae war with the dragons collusion, wove in and around Lira and Travis. It wouldn’t stay quietly in the background, always slipping in bits and pieces making me question what I thought I knew so far. It took time but each of the royals would learn a hard lesson, their past mistakes, while having to face the consequences of their actions. Battles and love scenes alike were never left to fade into darkness, the reader shared in the story to its fullest. Jen L. Grey crafted a story so well thought out and researched that I found myself running to seek out information which led me from mythology to geology and of course a dictionary to satisfy my own curiosity. Readers who simply enjoy a great story won’t need answers since Jen gave us them all. She never shies away from the hard stuff, blood will cover the ground and death abounds, innocents will die, but in the end villainy and hatred will reap its own just desserts. My one regret, if any, is that I wasn’t ready to leave Ardanos just yet when I reached the last page. I wouldn’t even have minded a fourth book to complete the series, if it had meant that Pyralis and Eiric’s story would have been included as well, since there wasn’t a word I would have wanted left out of this book. I highly recommend this series, there is mystery, spicy romance, angst, war, with villains and antiheroes, magical beings and parents who don’t always know what’s best. ["

"The full series leading to the final book called the kingdom of flames and ash is a wonderful and romantic story to read. I know once I finish the final book, I'm going to re-read it once again. ["
