"I really wanted to love this book, but it was lacking real depth. It was a great surface story. Great plot, characters, and mystery, but it all skimmed the surface. The main characters' feelings just changed, but there was no episode or reason why. If the binding was the reason, that is fine, but we needed to be shown that. The FMC is brilliant, but let's her husband starve for over a month? Where was the reason? Scared, disgusted, angry? She is so inquisitive, but not with this? She can't bleed into a cup or let him drink from her wrist? I feel that with some good editing, this book could be fabulous! *This book is rated PG-13. There are a half dozen mild cuss words. There is a lot of blood and several scenes of vague torture and vicious violence. There is no actual spice, but there is desire in the core, passionate kissing, and thoughts of being together naked. "Little to No Spoilers: Right away, you feel for Luna as she is arranged to marry the Dark Prince himself, Sebastian. She is terrified of leaving home and going to live in Castle Sanguis. Who wouldn't be? Everyone knows how dangerous vampires are. And she isn't marrying just any vampire. Sebastian is the queen's favorite vampire. "Son of her blood" as she calls him. He is handsome and very powerful and is sure to get everyone's heart thumping. While Luna might seem like a meek girl; she is anything but. She has strong opinions, a brash tongue, and is very knowledgeable. She is a strong female MC who challenges Sebastian's authority right away. Unbeknownst to both of them, they become tethered and receive the Binding Mark. As if being married to a stranger wasn't bad enough. Neither can be very far from each other or something bad happens to both of them. I really liked that. It's kind of boring when you have fated mates and they are bonded and that's it. This kept you on the edge of your seat because there are close moments when Luna and Sebastian feel just how trapped they are. Not that they mind much. They are definitely growing on each other after being married. Threats pour in from all over, but none are so dangerous as the queen herself. Wow. She is a formidable enemy. But I wonder about her intentions, bad or good. I feel like there's something more there that we haven't been told yet. Looking forward to finding out more about her past. If you want a different kind of vampire story that still has a strong love interest in it, but there's a heck of a mystery to be solved here, then I suggest reading Tethered. ["

Present and accounted for. Plot pace? Zoomy enough. Dark fantasy vibes? Yep yep. "Book One in a set of three, Tethered is the beginnings Luna and Sebastian's relationship. If you can call it that. At first, there is so much... I don't want to call it 'loathing' but it comes close, for one another because of their being different species that it makes things difficult. With Sebastian being a vampire, he sees Luna as a frail, breakable human that he is now going to have to just "keep alive" for the sake of the deal with her family's army. Arranged marriages. They're a difficult thing to deal with! Whereas Luna sees fangs and nothing more, having heard tales of just how horrid "The Prince of Darkness" can be. Even on their wedding night, with an unplanned "Binding" ceremony going on, she attempts to wield a weapon against him in an effort to keep some semblance of her own strength around her. The problem being he could have easily disarmed her, had he not realized just how charming this notion of her was. How was he to realize that he'd fall for the spitfire of a woman who had suddenly come to being under his protection? How was he to realize that they would suddenly become tethered as well as bonded, putting them in a whole world of troubles as the distance between them is not allowed to grow past a certain point without prodding them into pain. What would you do if you couldn't get any true form of privacy with the man or woman you were now both married and bonded to? Would you consider it a gift? Or a curse? ["
