About this book

In this addictive new fantasy series set in a world where magic is fueled by pleasure and pain, an obsessive detective infiltrates a brutal gang of dark mages—knowing that one wrong move will get her killed. . . . “A dazzling (and frequently sizzling) new fantasy.” —Kiersten White, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Lucy Undying Two decades ago, the Bloodmoons ruthlessly murdered Saffron Killoran’s parents, destroying her idyllic childhood. Hell-bent on revenge, she lies her way into Silvercloak Academy—the training ground for her city’s elite order of detectives—with a single goal: to bring the Bloodmoons to justice. But when Saff’s deception is exposed, rather than being cast out, she’s given a rare opportunity: to go undercover and tear the Bloodmoons down from the inside. Descending into a world where pleasure and pain are the most powerful currencies, Saff must commit some truly heinous deeds to keep her cover—and her life. Not only are there rival gangs and sinister smuggling rings to contend with, but there’s also her growing feelings for the kingpin’s tortured son, with his vicious pet fallowwolf, his dark past, and the curious prophecy foretelling his death at Saffron’s hand. With each day testing her loyalties further, Saff finds her web of lies becoming harder to spin. And when one false step could destroy everything and everyone she’s ever loved . . . the detective who’s dedicated her life to vengeance just might die for it. Book One of the Silvercloak Saga

Great Read!

"It’s been a minute since I’ve read a world this unique with a magic system that feels equally addictive and dangerous. The beginning hit hard, honestly so sad, but it set everything up perfectly and acted as a catalyst for the rest of the story. Magic here is tied to sensation, fueled by both pleasure and pain, which makes every spell feel intensely personal. The characters are messy in the best way. Saffron, our FMC, is sharp, determined, and constantly making choices that make you think, please think this through. As an undercover detective for the Silvercloaks, her thought process is always front and center. Levan, the MMC, is harder to read. As the tortured son of the Bloodmoon kingpin, the gang responsible for Saffron’s parents’ deaths, so much of him is compartmentalized and it feels like we are only scratching the surface. Half the time I didn’t know whether I wanted to slap him, sympathize with him, or devour him. Their banter is incredible, just the right amount of bite to balance the heavier moments. Their dynamic with suspicion, chemistry, and constant push and pull keeps trust feeling fragile at best and I loved it. Secondary characters shine too, moving the story forward and supporting without ever stealing the spotlight. They give the book that found family feeling Saffron would do anything for. The plot is busy, but it hints at something much bigger unfolding. The worldbuilding, especially the belief systems and power structures, is layered and rewarding if you pay attention. While this leans more into intrigue and mystery than romance, the emotional tension is very real. I finished with so many questions and theories and immediately needed the next book. Good thing Turncloak releases September 2026!🪄✨ ⭐️ Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️ ["
