"🌟🌟🌟🌟🌶️ Soo good! Riftborne starts a bit slower, but trust the process — it absolutely pays off. Fia, the FMC, begins the story as a scared, uncertain young woman, and watching her grow into a strong, independent force was one of my favorite parts of the book. Her character development felt earned and natural. The MMC, Laryk, honestly wasn’t my favorite at first — but he grew on me as the story progressed and as his own layers started to unfold. I also loved Fia’s best friend, Osta, who added heart and grounding to the story. There is a lot of world-building and combat training throughout much of the book, and I can see why some readers found that frustrating. But stick with it — once things start clicking into place, the story really takes off. I think all that backstory is going to be essential as the series continues and expands. I’m giving this 4 stars because I truly enjoyed it and am very much looking forward to what comes next. And that cliffhanger… OMG. 😳 Could everything Fia has been told — and lived — be a lie?? WHAT is actually going on?! Ugh. I need the next book ASAP. ["

"I feel like I need some time to process what happened. I’ve heard book 2 is amazing and that I have to read the Ascended. Everyone said you just have to get through book 1 - I didn’t have a problem with book 1 - was the love interest whiplash fast and unbelievable yup… even though our MMC has been with someone else the majority of the book, and even though he ignored Fia 98% of the time. You know what I feel like if this book offered his pov to show his desire for Fia maybe it would have been less forced. Good cliffhanger. The last 10% of the book does a good enough job at making you want to see what happens. Besides I’ve done Acator and Gild I know the second book - 2nd mmc is where it’s actually at ["

"This book started off really slow, but once I got to the 35% mark, it started to take off. I really enjoy the concept of this story. It is familiar but also unique. Laryk was mysterious and grumpy, and I love every second of it. Fia did get on my nerves a little bit in the beginning, but once she started training she really opened up and her character became very nuanced. The side characters in this were fantastic, especially Osta. The magic system was very intriguing and holy crap, that ending. Picking up book 2 immediately. ["
