About this book

There was no preparing for her storm. Wrath. When they met her, she was a whirlwind of shadows and darkness. Standing among the ashes of betrayal and grief, now she is a tempest of rage and malice. Queen Scarlett Aditya will hunt them all down, one by one, and make them pay. Starting with the one who took her brightest star from her. Acceptance. She knows she will come for her. Her betrayal was too great. She deserves the storm of fury that will end her, but until then Queen Talwyn Semiria will protect a secret that could turn the tides in the coming war. But when the time comes to pay for her sins, will she be able to give up everything? And will it even be enough? Hope. A kingdom wrapped in mystery, locked away behind wards to protect its secrets. That is where the last hope of King Callan Solgard lies to get his throne back. But does he even want it any more? Will it cost him more than what he’s already lost? Or will new nightmares draw him from the light and into the darkness? It’s time to start a fire and let it burn. Lady of Embers is book 4 of 5 in the Lady of Darkness series. Captivating

"I fell so hard for these books so quickly and it kills me that this series is still unfinished. That being said this series is so incredible that I would happily dive right back in from page one regardless of the unfinished status which is rare for me. There's joy and beauty and heartbreak and trials but you always know Melissa will help carry these characters through it all. So far my favorite book was and remains book 2 but just barely because they're all so incredible. The continued world building, character development, and introduction of not only new faces but new concepts , that have been just behind the curtain in previous books, is beautiful and captivating. You will hate characters and then root for them in the next chapter because they're all so complex and their histories and motives have such depth. Even though I read a lot of fantasy; god systems, power explanations, and a plethora of characters can often confuse me but I love how she breaks it down in this book giving you information clearly without it dragging at the story line. Information is often reinforced in the books pretty subtly which is sooooo helpful when we haven't seen a character, type of power, kingdom, or general concept in a while and my brain needs a tiny refresher to stay on track. I cannot speak highly enough of this series and this book is no exception! ["

Flirty for Fiction

Fourth installment of a dark romantasy that gives you a chance to breathe (for like, 5 seconds)

"Overall vibe: Dark romantasy that gives you a chance to breathe (for like, 5 seconds) Story shift: Healing, discovery, and forward momentum Romance: New dynamics, new ships, immediate investment Series moment: The world widens without overwhelming you Lady of Embers eases the fallout from the devastation of the previous book without dragging out the suffering (thank you for that, melissa). The story shifts into discovery mode, introducing mysterious new powers, expanding relationships, and bringing new family dynamics into focus while keeping emotional stakes high. What this book brings: -Answers without prolonged agony -Mysterious powers coming into play -New relationships that are immediately lovable (and very shippable) -A sense of new family and belonging More depth for side characters without info overload Reader experience check: Shipping hard (again) Feeling genuinely invested in multiple character arcs Appreciating how the series spotlights different side characters without overwhelming backstory dumps ["
