About this book

An unexpected gift offers the power to change everything. Keeping it could cost Diem her life. The threat of war has arrived at Diem's doorstep, along with a new discovery that could save her people. To use it, she must survive the next thirty days by forming a devil's bargain with the people she hates most: the royal family of House Corbois. As she dives into the world of the Descended elite, Diem quickly realizes good and evil aren't as simple as they seem. Old prejudices are challenged, and new loyalties blur the line between friend and foe. Meanwhile, her mother is still missing, and the secrets she left behind can no longer be ignored—and neither can the Guardians and their demands. Caught between an old flame and a sizzling new spark, Diem must confront the truth about who she is and what she wants before time runs out. War is coming, and dangerous enemies wait on all sides... but the most deadly battle Diem faces may be the one for her heart. Glow of the Everflame is the second book in The Kindred's Curse Saga, a four-book epic fantasy romance series that follows our feisty, bad*ss heroine Diem Bellator in her fight against injustice and oppression, her struggle to survive in a royal palace full of betrayal and intrigue, and her journey of self-discovery and finding true love.

Stronger Than Book One—Tense, Layered, and Full of Promise

"This is book two in the Kindred's Curse Saga, and I really enjoyed it. We continue following Diem as she works to understand her new role in the world. I won’t give too much away, so I’ll keep things a little cryptic. For me, this installment was even stronger than book one—the plot felt more engaging, the side characters had more depth, and we were introduced to several new ones worth hating or caring about - jury's still out. I especially loved seeing Diem face off against some truly arrogant Descendants—those confrontations were so satisfying to read. The slow burn romance is still very much a slow burn, but we do get to peel back more layers on Luther. Even with the new revelations, there are still plenty of questions left unanswered, which keeps the tension alive. Unlike some series that drag things out unnecessarily, this one feels like it needs multiple books to tell the story properly—and that’s a huge plus in my opinion. The ending was both fun and surprising, leaving me eager (and a little desperate) to know what’s next. There are still so many threads to pull on, and I can’t wait to see how the people closest to Diem react as things unfold. Book three is already on its way to me, and I’ll be diving in as soon as it arrives. ["

Enemies to lovers, political intrigue, and heartbreak.

"📖 Glow of the Everflame by Penn Cole Rating: ★★★★½ Wow. Just, wow. Finishing *Glow of the Everflame* left me absolutely devastated, in the best possible way. This book is an emotional journey unlike anything else I've read recently, still a slow-burn, still intricate world-building, and still so, so good. I was drawn to this one because Book 1 was fantastic, and let me tell you, this sequel absolutely met my expectations. The way the author developed Diem's political alliance and her personal transformation was masterful. The intricate political negotiations and Diem's character growth were so effectively woven together, creating a compelling narrative that kept me fully engaged throughout the thirty-day alliance. What really stood out for me was how emotionally invested I became in every character. Seriously, the writing here is just fantastic. Even the side characters seem to have added value and intrigue in a way that is rare and truly appreciated. Diem Bellator, our fierce protagonist, finds herself entangled with a member of the royal family she initially despises, Luther. Her journey of self-discovery amidst all that political intrigue, confronting her prejudices and grappling with her true identity, was incredibly resonant. It really challenges her understanding of loyalty and forces her to make difficult choices. There's a line that really stuck with me, "That if a man made you doubt whether his love for you would survive anything, he does not deserve you." It perfectly encapsulates some of the emotional stakes Diem faces. This book truly affected me, and yes, I highly recommend this book and the entire series. It's ideal for romantasy fans who love slow-burn plots with complex world-building and are comfortable with emotional intensity and character-driven narratives. If you enjoy political intrigue, morally complex characters, and gradual romantic development with high emotional stakes, you need to dive into this. 📦 What to Expect ✨ Epic Fantasy 💖 Slow Burn Romance 🔥 Grumpy/Sunshine Dynamic 🤯 Complex Politics & Power Struggles 💔 Deep Emotional Growth 🦴 Magical Beasts or Sentient Magic ⚔️ A Lead Who Fights for More Than Survival 📚 Book Tags Keywords: Dark Fantasy, Magic, Romance, Political Intrigue, Found Family, Survival, War Tropes: Grumpy/Sunshine, Enemies to Reluctant Allies, Found Family, Mentor/Protegé, Slow Burn, Power Couple Triggers: Slavery, Violence, War Themes, Grooming (discussed), Sexual Assault (mentioned, not shown), Emotional Abuse, PTSD 🎯 Final Thoughts If you're hungry for fantasy with teeth and tenderness, this belongs on your shelf.
