The Ascended (The Aesymarean Duet)
Parker Lennox
by Sav R. Miller
At the shadowed, ivy-covered halls of Avernia College, Asher Anderson struggles to contain the violent impulses inherited from his lineage. To the faculty, he is a pariah defined by his "evil" blood, but to Lucy Wolfe, he is the brooding, inseparable constant in her life. Lucy has spent years carefully compartmentalizing the electric, undeniable tension between them, desperate to maintain their boundary despite her heart’s silent insistence.
Their fragile equilibrium shatters when they are pulled into the university’s dark underbelly—a labyrinthine world of ancient secret societies and ritualistic sacrifices. As a series of unexplained deaths turn the campus into a hunting ground, the line between protector and monster blurs. Forced into proximity by the encroaching danger, the pair can no longer ignore the magnetic pull drawing them together.
Amidst the blood-soaked history of the institution and the mounting threats against their lives, Lucy and Asher must navigate a volatile dance of desire and survival. In this twisted retelling inspired by the Greek Furies, they learn that the most dangerous fire isn't the one consuming their surroundings, but the one igniting between them—a fire that threatens to destroy them both if they refuse to surrender to it.

"Thank you Sourcebooks Casablanca, NetGalley, and Sav R. Miller for the opportunity to read this ARC. The following review and thoughts are my own: WOW this book is amazing! I am a sucker for a good second generation story and this one does not disappoint. I loved the opportunity to grow with Asher and Lucy. To feel their frustrations (and sometimes straight up idiocy with their lack of communication) as they navigated their developing friends to lovers romance. I loved the pining and angst once one of them realized they desperately wanted a second chance and seeing the romance pan out. As the plot develops, you realize this isn't your typical romance. There's a dark academia setting with a deadly secret society and a fair amount of danger (and some good ole unaliving). I absolutely adored this story and cannot wait for Book Two. Read Endless Anger if you like: -dark academia -friends to lovers -deadly secret society -uber miscommunication -second chance romance Happy Reading! ["

C ReadsReally enjoyed! ❤
"As soon as I found out about this author's new trilogy I couldn't wait to read it! I've been excited to pick up this first installment ever since. I jumped into the Monsters Within world as soon as I could. I really enjoyed this story! Lucy and Asher's journey pulled me right in! These two have been best friends for years. Little did they know that so much more would be in store for them at Avernia College. Both Asher and Lucy kept me turning the pages! I enjoyed the fact that these two best friends and getting to see them at college. From the school and everything uncovered to the feelings between them that can't be ignored, I couldn't wait to see how everything would play out for Lucy and Asher. I was on edge with Asher and Lucy throughout! You really got their connection and how they had so much in their hearts for each other. I enjoyed jumping into the darkness with them and watching them take on all the things. Lucy and Asher had me feeling so much! With Endless Anger, Ms.Miller has created such a great and orginal dark romance that brought best friends to lovers, grumpy goodness, a unique college, the feels, and many moments that kept me on edge! I can't wait for book two and get more of this world! ❤ Check out the author's content/trigger warnings. ["

Ari's Fiction FixDefinitely read the first series before this one or you'll be confused on certain family legacies!
"A solid 3-3.5 star read for sure! I'm not even sure what made me buy this book lmao I just saw it at the store one day and decided that sounded interesting! With that being said, I had NOOOOO idea that this was a spin-off from a previous series but after reading it makes complete sense!! There's a lot of references to the background of Asher and Lucy's parents, and really just their time at the university, the family legacy backgrounds and things like that. A lot of this stuff I didn't really understand which makes sense because it was information from the previous series. So I know it's said that it can be read as a standalone, but just beware of that. The romance carriedddd!! Obviously I know it's a romance book but it has its thriller/suspense/mystery aspect to it too but the romance really carried. The first few chapters are pretty much flashbacks of Asher & Lucy from age 13 to present (which I believe was 20) and it really gave a lot of insight to how close they were and how much they loved each other. The thriller aspect was nice too but I really read this for the romance lol and because I love me a dark academia ["

KatOBSESSED WITH THIS SERIES ALREADY
"I'd never read any of Sav R. Miller's books but impulsively bought Endless Anger. I'm a paranormal reader through & through, yet somehow this is the first Dark Academia I've read. Of course I'm now hooked. TBH I'm in love with Sav's writing style in general, especially being character driven reader. I adore the way she writes MMC & strong MFC and find her inclusion of neurodivergence & chronic illness hella relatable (not surface level bs, true understanding shines through). Even the trauma felt more relatable than a ton of other books I've been through. I also enjoy that her books are loosely based on mythos instead of more strict retellings, which I've discovered I prefer. I did get hella lucky with my timing here. Her second installment in this Monsters Within series, Jealous Rage, came out only a few days after my finishing Endless Anger. I'd say I loved Jealous Rage even more than Endless Anger, but I think I just fell in love with each character progressively more than I thought possible. I don't want to wait however long for the third installment to come out *cry cry cry cry cry forever*. I decided my best course of action is to go back and read her Monsters & Muses series, where this character line all began. I didn't realize I would want to know anything about the first-generation characters in this world, yet here I am with the current five book series on deck, and the sixth pre-ordered. If anything, this series will give me some good lore which I looooove with anything I fixate on. ["
