Fury Bound (The Wolves of Ruin Book 2)
Sable Sorensen
Fourth Wing meets The Hunger Games in this spicy, page-turning romantasy where humans and direwolves forge unbreakable bonds and fight for survival at all costs. Only the worthy survive the Bonding Trials. She’ll risk her life—and her heart—to be one of them. Meryn Cooper has always hated the Bonded, elite warriors who form mental links with the massive, vicious direwolves they ride. While they live in luxury, Meryn struggles to keep her family out of poverty. When her little sister, Saela, is kidnapped—stolen across the border by the immortal monsters her country has spent centuries fighting—Meryn’s world falls apart. Desperate to cross the front and save her sister, Meryn enlists in the army and is thrown into the deadly Bonding Trials, where any mistake will cost her life. Now Meryn must survive four months of training at the castle. She is bound to a feral direwolf who refuses to communicate. The other trainees would love to spill her common blood. And her cold and beautiful instructor, Stark Therion, is eager to punish any weakness. Everything is a competition, and everyone is out to get her—everyone except the dangerously handsome crown prince, whose attention adds another target to her back. In the castle, every smile hides a knife…and the halls hide dark secrets. It’s bond or bleed. Duel or die. Failure is ruin. Dire Bound contains mature content including depictions of graphic violence, and is therefore recommended for readers 17+. For a full list of tropes and TWs, please visit the author's website. Alyssa StewartI Adore This Book: Amazing Debut
"ARC Read I was so excited to be selected to be an ARC reader for this wonderful book. I have always loved wolf stories, and this one did NOT disappoint! The world building was absolutely captivating. It's rare to find a story that has you excited to learn about each new custom and setting along with the character, but Direbound did this impeccably. I was found myself immediately hooked and enthralled with the characters and the storyline. Meryn is tough and determined, but we also get to see her growth and how she comes into her own. She has been handed an awful hand of cards in her life, but she makes it through because she there is no other choice. She is a great FMC that makes you want to root for her success. There is also a wonderful through-line of familial bonds both with her sister, Igor, and her complicated relationship with her mother - these bonds help Meryn to never seem flat or one-dimensional. We also get to see her bond grow with her wolf, and we get to learn about Direwolf culture alongside of her which keeps you hungry for more, just like Meryn. Anassa is a beautiful character, and single handedly drew me even further into the book. There is romance strung throughout the book, but once you meet the wolves, your intrigue is fueled by the pack and the quests at hand, leaving the romance as a good aside to the plot. The found family within this novel is beautifully written with it's ups and downs, but watching Meryn and everyone else overcome those rough patches only to come out stronger is incredibly heartwarming. From the moment I picked up this book, I couldn't put it down! Direbound held my attention for over 600 pages from the very beginning. Immediately I was pulled into this world and invested in the characters and plot. When the characters overcame something, it felt like I'd overcome it. When they lost something, I felt the loss as my own. It is incredibly difficult to illicit that feeling from a reader in the first few pages but Sable Sorensen has done it beautifully. There is enough detail that you can fall into the story and look around as if you're there, but not too much that you feel bogged down in a setting description. Also, as someone who has read a lot of wolf based stories in her life, I can tell you that this is one of the best I've read. The descriptions of the packs and the connections were well described and thought out. It felt cohesive, and I could tell that wolves and pack structures were something that Sable Sorensen really cared about and thought out. Throughout the read, I was kept on my toes. I am a reader that likes to figure things out before they happen, but I was constantly changing my theories as new information was revealed. There are twists and turns in this book that keep you deeply engaged in the plot, and the ending left my jaw open with me already looking up the release of the second book! After I finished the read, I had such an urge to go back and reread it to figure out all of the foreshadowing that was released previously that I had missed, but kept thinking back to with all of the new information. I almost never find myself itching to reread a novel directly after finishing it, but after this read, it was impossible to just set the book down and walk away from the world until this summer! (Potential Spoiler (if you want to go in with almost no knowledge) Ahead) Finally, I have always loved Throne of Glass and Rowan Whitethorn. I never thought that I'd find another fantasy man that matches his energy, but Stark might just prove me wrong. Overall, if you're a fan of wolves, Fourth Wing, Throne of Glass, all of the above, read Direbound! You won't regret diving into this world for even a second! ["

Lindsay RoseRomantasy at its finest!
"Dire Bound was a full-blown experience. From the first page, I was pulled into an epic, dangerous world that blends the addictive academy-survival vibes of Fourth Wing with the feral intensity of Psycho Shifters, then cranks everything up several notches. This is romantasy at its finest: brutal trials, powerful bonds, high emotional stakes, and a heroine who will burn the world down for the people she loves. Meryn is the kind of FMC I live for, desperate, determined, and fiercely human. With her sister taken and her mother’s health failing, every choice she makes is fueled by love, sacrifice, and survival. Watching her enter the deadly Bonding Trials and become bound to Anassa, a feral but regal direwolf who wants nothing to do with her, was one of my favorite parts of the book. The earned trust and growing bond between Meryn and Anassa is powerful, emotional, and beautifully written. The romance delivers delicious tension. There’s a complicated love triangle, forbidden feelings, and slow-burn yearning that had me clutching my Kindle. The tension between Meryn and Stark is especially addictive, it is charged, painful, and impossible to ignore and made even better by the fact that Meryn is already in a relationship she can’t easily walk away from. Add in found family, betrayal, ruthless training, and nonstop twists, and I was hooked. This story is fast-paced, emotional, and action-packed without sacrificing character depth or world-building. The strongest metals are forged in fire and watching Meryn be forged into something stronger, sharper, and more dangerous was incredibly satisfying. Dire Bound is a must-read for romantasy lovers who crave bonds, beasts, brutal trials, slow-burn tension, and heroines who refuse to break. I devoured this book and cannot wait for the next book!!! 🖤🐺👑 ["
