Great Conclusion to the Series.

"Dark Harmony is the final book in The Bargainer series by Laura Thalassa. For some reason, the first portion of this book took me longer to get through. I got distracted and felt it was taking too long for Callie and Des to confront/defeat the Thief and Des’ father. However, about midway through book, things finally started getting more interesting, there was more action and I was working right alongside Callie trying to figure out how to accomplish what they needed to do. I absolutely adore Des! He’s just the best and would be such an amazing mate and partner. He loves and cherishes Callie so much and never does anything that doesn’t prove those feelings true. Callie finds strength she didn’t know she had and the series ends in a really great place. I love the world LT created here, and I enjoyed reading this series following Des and Callie on their journey to happiness. ["

"Rating - 3.7 (ish) I feel like I am almost the opposite of the other reviewers where they had loved the first two books and not so much this one, whereas I struggled with the first two but loved this book. We finally learn who the Thief of Souls is, what he wants, and why he is doing what he is doing—very Greek Mythology melodrama. I loved the hint towards Persephone towards the end of the book. Hopefully, that is what the author was going for; if not, you're welcome. We finally find out what happens when all those sleeping soldiers awakening - hint: it's not a good thing. But surprise surprise, Callie can now use her Siren to control Fae. A little too convenient but, if she could not, the book would have ended. (view spoiler) Des and Callie have other items on the agenda and take off for a vacation back in Malibu. It does not seem like the best time to take off, but OK. The reader then learns how Galleghar came back into the picture and what role he plays in the Thief of Souls plan. I enjoyed the Thief of Souls character as he was such a presence while not being a "physical" presence until the end. It was also interesting to see how the Seer from London's premonition also came to be accurate but in a very different way than expected. I think the author did a fantastic job of wrapping up all the loose ends and leaving just a little extra to keep the reader thinking and questioning. It felt just a tad rushed, I wish the adventure to the World of the Dead had had more focus and information. It would have been great to learn more about that World and what happened during the Thief of Souls reign. Overall, I did enjoy the entire trilogy. I would give the series as a whole a rating of 3.5. Would I reread it? Probably not. Would I recommend to a friend? Maybe, if they love lots of steamy scenes and want a fun, quick read, yes. ["

"I used to love to read. For years I read nearly a book every day. But I found the stories were becoming repetitive. I lost interest in reading and hadn't read anything "for fun" for around 3 years. I seen Laura Thalassa's book 'Pestilence' on amazon after it came up in my reccomend list after reading the 'A Touch of Darkness' series. I thought I loved the horseman books. I read the other 2 books 'War' and 'Famine' and I rediscovered my love for reading. I needed more. But when I read the description for this book I didn't think I would like it. The first book was actually kind of hard for me to get into due to the constant jumps in time. It wasnt that it was difficult to follow it was just that it felt like the jumps in time happened between every 3 and 5 pages which was sometimes every chapter and sometimes twice a chapter. But if you push through that I swear this series is one of the most beautiful book series I've ever read and the time jumps stop in the second book. I'm not one who cares about grammar much (not that I even noticed any mistakes) but I can't imagine the normal person like myself would even notice any issue with the grammar. I think maybe one thing that might make it difficult to get into is the author uses very modern descriptions when she speaks and thinks through her characters. I personally liked it and it made the characters more relatable to me. I felt as if I personally knew Callie and Temper. I had seen some people complaining about the age gap between Callie and Des however nothing sexual ever occurs between them and personally I didn't feel feel it was any worse than the amount of romance that happened between Bella and Edward in Twilight. I think their love was perfect... and this author is so extremely talented Im going to read the rest of what she has to offer even though they dont sound particularly my taste I'm just going to keep an open mind and hope that she blows me out of the water again. Also, lastly this book talks about assault on women a lot and might be a trigger so proceed with caution if that might trigger you. However, I will add that this is NOT a wattpad story that romanticises that type of behavior. ["

"Well written. Well edited. It grabs you from the beginning and keeps you enthralled all the way through three books. All the books are published, so no waiting for the next installment. It’s set in modern day earth and the fairy world. The suspense is well developed and I didn’t figure out most of the twists till the end. Some clues were obvious, but it didn’t make the book boring at all. The characters are interesting and very well developed. So are the many Fae worlds that this story winds itself through. Des and Callie have a beautiful love story that starts out complicated and becomes intense and strong. The sex scenes are tasteful and relevant to the story. The secondary characters are entertaining. The first book is “Rhapsodic”. If you like paranormal, suspense with a great love story, then you’ll love this one. There are plenty of laughs and heart warming side tracks as well as bad guys to hate. Highly recommend. ["

"I’ll start by saying that I absolutely adore this series. Desmond will forever live rent-free in my mind... and, dare I say, my dreams! However, while the final book in the series held moments of brilliance, it ultimately felt rushed and underdeveloped. Much of the story centers on Callie’s anxious search for the Thief of Dreams, yet we don’t see much progress for most of the book. Then, in the last quarter, the plot races forward at breakneck speed, leaving the reader struggling to keep up. The result? A story filled with unanswered questions, missing pieces, and far too many loose ends. SPOILER ALERT!! ……………….FROM HERE OUT ……………SPOILER ALERT!! Let’s dive into some of the key issues. First, Galleghar. His sudden death felt far too easy, and his role in the story was almost nonexistent. I had been waiting for some grand revelation about his connection to the plot, but aside from awakening the Thief, he didn’t seem to add much value. Yes, he’s responsible for the death of Desmond’s mother and his children, but that only serves to fuel Des’s desire for revenge. Galleghar ultimately felt like a weak, inconsequential character who lacked real impact on the story. Then there’s the Thief himself. Throughout the entire series, we’re led to believe that his obsession with Callie is central to the plot. But in the end, we never truly understand why he fixates on her, other than his desire to possess her. His repeated threats about what he wants to do with her are unsettling, but they don’t offer much depth. Are we really to believe that the entire conflict boils down to him wanting to take advantage of Callie? And while it’s briefly mentioned that he had plans to end the world, this goal feels secondary to his obsession with Callie, and it's barely explored. As for the revelation that the Thief is actually Euribios — a God — this twist was bewildering. Is his divine nature supposed to make him harder to defeat? Not when a group of dead souls ends up vanquishing him in the end. I had been expecting an epic showdown, a moment of clarity, and all the loose threads to be tied up neatly, but sadly, that never came. And what about the children? These demonic, bloodthirsty children were introduced with great fanfare, but their ultimate fate is completely ignored. Why did the Thief impregnate the women warriors? What was the significance of these children, and why were they so important to the plot? Once the Thief is defeated and the warriors return to their normal selves, there’s no mention of the children again. It felt like a strange, unexplained subplot that added little to the overall narrative. Finally, Desmond’s “death” felt like an afterthought. Did he really die and come back to life? His deal with the Thief seemed forced, and it’s unclear why Des needed to die in order to reach the land of the dead. If he already knew how to get there while alive, why couldn’t he and Callie simply go together? Was his “death” just a ploy for added suspense? And, frustratingly, Des disappears during the final battle, leaving Callie to face the Thief alone. It was a baffling narrative choice that didn’t feel well thought out. As much as I love this series, this final book only earns 3 stars from me. The character banter between Des and Callie, along with Callie’s inner dialogue, brought a lot of humor and lightness to the story, and I laughed out loud on several occasions. I’ve grown to love these characters and their dynamic, but the rushed pacing, unresolved plot points, and lack of closure left me disappointed. I wish more time had been spent tying up loose ends and less on the spice. Despite my frustrations, I’m still a fan of the series — I just wish the ending had been more satisfying and thoughtfully executed. ["
