IT'S A LOT CLOSER TO A MAGICAL REALISM ROMANCE, THE BOOK IS SET IN THE REAL- WORLD, BUT STEPHANIE GARBER'S WRITING IS SO ATMOSPHERIC AND VIVID IN ITSELF THAT THE BOOK FEELS MAGIC IN A TRANSPORTS YOU AWAY' TYPE OF WAY. REGARDING THE FMC, THE BEST COMPARISON, OR ILLUSTRATION, I CAN MAKE IS tHAT IT FEELS CLOSER TO A DONATELLA POV RATHER THAN SCARLETT. NOT SAYING THE TWO BOOKS ARE THE SAME, BUT IF A COMPARISON HAD TO BE MADE. FOR MMC, THERE ISN'T A DEFINITIVE MMC, BUT EACH OF THEM FELT CHARMING. NOT DISTINCT ENOUGH TO NOT BLUR TOGETHER, THOUGH I DO WONDER IF THAT WAS ON PURPOSE TO KEEP THE READER IN SUSPENSE. THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN THE MCS IS DEFINITELY THERE (EVEN IF THERE ARE MORETHAN A SINGLE PAIR) AND INCREASES STRONGLY AS THE STORY PROGRESSES. "This was an extremely easy to read book that is fast paced, written well and could be picked up and be back to speed easily. I’d recommend it to any of my family or friends. The romance aspect wasn’t much and that makes me happy as I don’t like wasted time on physical sexual relationships in my books. If I wanted it I’d read a harlequin book. The chapters are extremely short, typically 3 pages in length which means every chapter ends on a cliffhanger. The dungeon crawler books are similar in chapter length and addictive writing style. While twists and turns happen in this book it wasn’t so easily spelled out you understood any of them. I would have enjoyed this being spread out over more than one book but it wasn’t for lack of depth, just my own selfishness at wanting more. ["
