"My Spoiler Free Review- We have been given... Pirates. Magic. Fire. Royalty. A BADASS FMC. Banter. Slow Burn. 🔥🔥and a yearning for more! Im sitting here wondering when we can get our hands on book 2... But in all reality.. We start off with a beautiful photo, map, and pronunciation guide. The number of things I say wrong... this is amazing. Esmami (will always be here name) had me hooked right off the bat with her fire cracker personality and sassy nature. The picture is painted so clear - the Night Wraith crew, the king's family, the sea, and everything in between. (Including so many other parts you need to read to pick up on, otherwise Id be here all day) At the end of this I was left staring at my kindle. You know the stare off into... what do I do now? look. BONUS... we know I love a Shadow Daddy, and it's like Em added one just for me 😘 If you love a slow burn, witty, adventure packed fantasy, you NEED to read this book. "I need more than 5 stars. This deserves them all. I just finished this book, this book just finished me. We start out with Esmyra Blackwood crossing paths with Prince Draevyn Rowe, when she finds out he is searching for the lost/sunken kingdom of Maerinys. She feels drawn to learning more about the sunken kingdom, but doesn't know why or what she is looking to find on this journey. As the story progresses, she discovers why she is drawn to Maerinys. The sunken kingdom just may hold the answers she's been looking for all her life, about who she is, where she comes from, and why she's different from any other magical beings she's encountered in her long life. Esmyra gets her answers, but the lost kingdom may not be everything it seems to be. I knew going into this that there was a good chance I was going to fall in love. The book and the characters have been being teased for months, and it's everything I wanted it to be, and more. It 100% meets the bill of Pirates of the Caribbean meets Atlantis - and I absolutely adored seeing this brought to life in a fantasy book. It felt fresh and unique while keeping the familiarity of morally grey characters, badass FMCs, found family, and all the things we love in a fantasy story. Esmyra is a sassy, hilarious FMC, with more powers than I can count on one hand. I want to be her when I grow up. Draevyn Rowe is the sexy second son of the King of Men, and trying to live his life as under the radar from his hateful father as possible. These two together start out hating each other, but as the journey progresses, I absolutely LOVED seeing the sharp jabs turn to witty banter turn to full on flirting. I love them so much. This epic journey they embark on is full of danger, adventure, terrifying magical creatures, shocking revelations, heartbreak, and more. Without spoiling anything major about the end of this book, I'll just say that I absolutely can not wait to see where Esmyra's absolute RAGE takes us next, I know her wrath will spread like WILDFIRE.
