About this book

The price of love is loss. We all pay it eventually… In every life… Some moments are too painful to be endured. Some moments will break you if you let them. And yet, I can’t afford to let anything break me, because we have one chance to win this war. One chance to create a better life for everyone across the four kingdoms. Even as our enemies ally with each other, our own allies are forced to betray their kingdoms, their people…and themselves. And even as Regner plans something so cruel, so wholly evil, he’s poised to douse the last remaining spark of hope in this world. Unless we kill him first.

"Stacia Stark's *A Queen This Fierce and Deadly* is a mesmerizing addition to her fantasy series, delivering a story brimming with emotion, tension, and breathtaking stakes. This novel excels in weaving together themes of love, war, and identity, creating a tale that is both heart-wrenching and exhilarating. The book's foundation is built upon several powerful tropes, including forced proximity and a slow-burn romance that simmers beneath the surface of a world at war. Stark's deft handling of these elements ensures that the story remains engaging and deeply emotional, as the characters navigate the complexities of their relationships while facing external threats. Central to the narrative is the concept of found family, which adds warmth and depth to the characters' interactions. As they battle grief and confront hidden identities, the bonds they forge become a source of strength and resilience. The inclusion of fated mates adds a layer of destiny and inevitability to the romance, intensifying the connection between the protagonists. Stark doesn't shy away from epic battles and the harsh realities of war, which are portrayed with vivid detail and gripping intensity. These scenes are balanced by moments of spice and tenderness, ensuring that the romance remains a focal point amidst the chaos. The journey culminates in a happy ending that feels both earned and satisfying, providing a sense of closure that resonates with the reader. Stark's ability to blend emotion and action, combined with her knack for crafting memorable characters, makes this book a standout in the fantasy genre. *A Queen This Fierce and Deadly* is a testament to Stacia Stark's storytelling prowess, offering a tale that captivates the heart and mind. With its rich narrative and unforgettable characters, this book is a must-read for fans of epic fantasy and slow-burn romance. ["

One of the best in the series

"It’s rare that I like a final installment of a series the most—the last book in a series’ plotline often feels too rushed. But I ended up liking this book better than all of the ones that came prior. I loved getting to spend more time with Asinia and Madinia’s POV chapters—I think Asinia/Demos started off as a “wouldn’t it be wild if these two got together” thought in the earlier books and it genuinely made me so happy to see them get together. After a certain point in the series (i.e. by book two pretty much) I sort of skimmed most of the 🌶️ scenes because I cared more about the rest of the plot, but I thought that the scene between Asinia and Demos was really sweet and a great payoff for the slow burn they had going on. I think Stark is going to be writing more about Madinia’s story too? Which is a major win! I personally liked this series much much more than the ACOTAR books, but I do think it’s telling that my favorite character in SJM’s books is Nesta, and now my fave from this series is Madinia. What can I say, I love vengeful “bitchy” heroines who thrive on rage and avoid their feelings. It’s a mood and I cannot wait to read about her adventures. All in all, a very sweet ending with some super compelling action sequences as well. Stark does not get enough credit for the way that she writes combat—I find it engaging, exciting, and easy to follow, which can be a tough balance to achieve. ["
