Zodiac Academy: The Awakening
Caroline Peckham
by Caroline Peckham
Rosalie Oscura has survived the brutal hierarchy of Darkmore Penitentiary, but the price of her freedom is steeper than she ever imagined. As the final chapter of her incarceration unfolds, she stands on the precipice of a world that no longer feels like home. The walls of the prison may be crumbling, but the shadows of her past continue to hunt her, forcing her to confront the ultimate test of her strength and her loyalties.
Caught in a dangerous game of power and survival, Rosalie must navigate the treacherous landscape of Solaria while balancing the intense, conflicting demands of the men who have claimed her heart. The dynamic between them is volatile and electrifying, defined by a shared history of violence and an undeniable, soul-deep bond that refuses to be broken. As external threats close in and the stakes reach a fever pitch, Rosalie must decide who she can trust when everyone has an agenda of their own.
In this high-stakes conclusion, the line between predator and prey blurs, and Rosalie must embrace her true nature to secure her future, even if it means burning everything she once knew to the ground.

"Multi POV and THE FINAL BOOK. Will Sin finally learn what a signal actually looks like? Will *everyone* be okay? Will Cain stop having a stick up his you know what? (Okay I feel like that one is actually known to be a strong no). I can’t believe it’s over. While the dynamics and feel of this last one are a bit different due to the circumstances, it was still amazing. I found the pacing to be pretty good and the steam wasn’t too far fetched timing wise (lol). I truly truly loved the ending and how they decided to have their future unfold. This was chaos (Sin is there so that tracks) and so much fun-for the most part. And the length is a “normal” ish amount (not the absolute bricks that some of the later Zodiac books came out to be) so it is a pretty easy series to binge too! Spoiler wise for ZA I think if you’ve read the series then it will seem spoiler-y for 1-2 big things but if you haven’t then it is still very vague, as much as they could be, but it is still a little spoilery. Overall they still did a pretty good job especially with most other main characters. But if you are concerned I personally recommend publication order (that’s what I was forced to do anyway or do chronological which is Dark Fae, ZA, then this). ["

"I really enjoyed this series. I'm not typically one for dark romance. I did like this but I'm still not a fan of how physically mean a couple of the guys were in the beginning. That's personal preference not anything against the story though. All of the characters, just like any other related series, are insane. It makes for an interesting time and a lot of laughs. I did have a couple complaints that aren't just a 'me thing' though. A lot of the things that were said or done were incredibly cliche or just out of place. People just don't speak that way. Besides Sin the male characters were basically indistinguishable. Side characters had similar thoughts and overly quirky personalities that just didn't fit them. And maybe I missed something but to my knowledge they just let a rapist run free because he was useful to them?? Overall this was a good read. The plot was interesting and unique. I was able to read the series in a few days because I kept pushing through needing to know what happened. I'm glad I gave this a go even though it's not something that would be my typical read. ["

"I have absolutely been blown away by this series and the Darkmore Penitentiary books have solidified their place in my list of favorite series. The book picks up right after the tragic events at the end of Feral Wolf. Rosalie is free with Ethan, Sin, and Cain at her side but having lost Roary after he was captured during the escape. Her main goal, the reunite with Roary. With the FIB searching for them across Solaria making the situation worse. They discover more about what was happening in the Psych ward at Darkmore Penitentiary on their journey to finding Roary and it is discovered that a character from Zodiac Academy is not as dead as everyone thought and is continuing his experiments. Roary is caught in the middle of this after being caught during his escape and has to deal with a life-changing situation. Meanwhile, we also learn a lot more about Sin’s background and the tragedy that is his past. While Cain has to face his past face on, while also still dealing with his moon curse. Full of cameo appearances by characters from other Zodiac Academy and Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac this was a fun book and solidified my love of the Darkmore Penitentiary series. A special shoutout to the audiobook narrators who did an amazing job narrating this book. They really helped bring the characters to life! ["

"I could’ve seen this as another 9 book series tbh. The complexities of her powers. Complete backstories into the boys lives. A clip of The ferryman’s relationship with the moon. Rosalie’s characteristics always captured me throughout the 20 something book series. To say it was rushed would be a lie. But it also wasn’t slow burn either. Poor choir boy. Never the wiser on anything. lol All in all I enjoyed the read. Seeing Shadowman finally get some stardamned peace brought tears to my eyes ! The authors definitely gave all these characters the time and effort ! None of the main characters were jipped for parts or quality. Even side characters were portrayed well. I look forward to reading more from the twisted sisters ! ["
