The ultimate Flesh & Fire and Blood & Ash world guide

"This book really is the Blood and Ash, and Flesh and Fire world bible. It contains everything that you need to know from both of these series. Each character has their own section that tells their features, personalities, habits, mannerisms, background, and what their part in these stories has been. It’s basically everything you need in one handy guide. While this is a compendium of both worlds so it may feel like it’s just a rehash of information, I can absolutely say that reading this formed connections for me that I just didn’t see before. Along with that we also get extra scenes that we get only in this book, gorgeous artwork, and a hilarious interview Kieran. And of course it wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t get some of Miss Willa’s famous diary entries. This book is exactly what you need if you’re like me and tend to forget some (alright, most) things between books in a series if you’re not reading them all back to back. I will definitely be referring back to this as I’m reading if I need to look up a character that I’ve forgotten. Oh and did I mentioned the artwork already right? The ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS artwork that I was in awe of? Yep, I’ll definitely be going back to look at that artwork as I’m reading too. ["

Meh, I would have preferred the next Blood & Ash book

"Pros: It is nice to have the easy reference for the characters and their family/ relationships/ powers/ etc. Especially if I'm going to to a reread in the future. There were also new tidbits of info about the characters in their bios. The couple new scenes with Poppy/ Cas and Nyktos/ Sera were a nice touch. I'm not good with imagining designs and details, so I appreciated the pictures of the characters and crowns. The artwork inside the cover of the hardback was beautiful. It is nice to have a summary of the plots and history if I don't want to reread before the next one comes out. Cons: It was 95% just a summary of what we've already read. It's not even a finsished summary, because neither series is complete yet. It's a little annoying to spend money on essentially 2 bonus scenes with a few extra pictures. The maps were already provided in the other books, so they didn't add much. As stated in the "pros" section, I did appreciate the visuals, HOWEVER, they're in black and white unless you get the kindle version. The inside covers are the only non black & white artwork, which means you lose a lot of detail. They are still beautiful illustrations, but the original coloring is better. I bought both the hardcover and kindle, so at least I can see them in color. I get that it's expensive to add color pages to books, but plenty of people have done it before and if you're going to make a comprehensive compendium, make it worth our while. I also didn't get anything from the Willa entries. They didn't add anything. I guess if you're interested in her diary, it provides a snapshot of what it's like, but I don't think they were a necessary addition to the compendium. The hardback doesn't have a table of contents, so you have to flip through to find what you want. I feel as though a guide should tell you exactly where to find the information. The kindle obviously lets you click on the specific chapter you want. All in all, it's just ok. I would have preferred the focus be on the next Blood and Ash instead and release this after both series are completed, so everything is there. ["
