best book I’ve ever read

"It was amazing!!! So it starts off kind of abrupt and idk just clunky idk how else to describe it but push past the first bit, it quickly gets sooooo good. For the most part the writing is smooth but there are random parts here and there that just kind of feel rushed or a bit clunky again but it’s just short scenes and I feel like it’s probably because the author was trying to not have it be too long since it’s already a pretty long book. But even with the few weird spots the story is simply amazing. It’s tragic and romantic and beautiful and sexy and completely captivating. I’ve never read a book that just the story and imagination that went in to it was so amazing I just don’t even have accurate words to describe it. I read ALOT and it’s hard for me to fall completely in love with a book very often because I feel like so many books are so similar in the fantasy or dark romance genres, it can feel like the same story told over and over again with just slightly different writing but this is so unique. It’s almost cruel to release it before the sequel is ready because waiting for part two is going to be heartbreaking. ["

I originally picked it up because it was inspired by the Labyrinth and Beauty and the Beast. Let me tell you, it holds up! If part of you wished Sarah stayed with Jareth, check this out. The monologues are very Jareth-esc, I was ready to join his side. I enjoyed the complex layers of the labyrinth and the trials Nell had to endure. Each level giving Enver a piece of his past back, emotion by emotion. It was such an interesting concept and beautifully executed. The author did a great job of capturing the essence of each emotion. You may need a glass of milk because it was SPICY. The spice was delicious, passionate, and extremely hot. May contain use of shadows 👀 Until The World Falls Down is beautifully written, captivating from the start, and a fan service to Labyrinth what more could I ask for?! Inspired by Labyrinth - but Wholly its Own Story

"Have you ever watched Labyrinth and thought, "I would like my own personal Jareth, please?" Well, you are in luck as this book is inspired by that very thing - but darker with spice that will require a cold shower after reading. Nell's growth after essentially being a people-pleasing doormat for her ex was amazing. The trials she went through, learning about herself and helping others was a lovely journey. She still has much to learn and I hope to see that growth continued in the next book. As for Enver, the mystery surrounding him and the labyrinth itself are such a fascinating take on the its source inspiration. The twist of how this whole his situation came to be is something I did not see coming, even when you began to understand how he, the trials, and the inhabitants of the world are connected. I also loved how the author handles trauma and how some people live with it when others would rather forget because the pain is too much. It pulled on my heart many times over. As for that end - that epilogue and what it sets up? I cannot wait. I loved this book and am excited to see how the author grows this story and world. On the spice scale: 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5 Enver, with his filthy mouth and skillful command of the shadows...good gods. (One note that needs to be said. This was not a 'retelling', its 'inspired by', which means just uses the general idea of a story, and is not a rework of an original. For that I'm personally glad, otherwise we would be getting an ick story of a centuries old male perusing and courting a sixteen year old girl as happens in the original film. Something that though I am a fan of the movie never, sat right with me and is a point that many try to gloss over.) ["

Cool take on retelling but dragged

"I genuinely enjoyed this book and I read the whole thing in like 2 days. There were a few plot points and twists that I didn’t see coming which is pretty hard to accomplish in a retelling, so props to the author for that. Plus the spice was 5 stars, chef’s kiss, SO good. However I really feel like this book should’ve been 400 pages, not 544. The FMC has so much repetitive internal monologue and introspective dialogue with the MMC about why she feels the way she feels that I was rolling my eyes when I read the same internal argument for like the 10th time. I know the theme of the story is about a girl who everyone called “pathetic” finding her self worth and the will to stand up for herself but honestly she was wayyy too pathetic to where I didn’t even like her from beginning to end. The word ‘please’ is said 113 times in this book, and the majority of them are FMC begging/crying, and I was so over it. And I really didn’t need all those middle-school level PSA type lessons on being sensitive to other people’s needs. Several times throughout the book she said something pretty normal and ended up apologizing for making assumptions about others and it just felt very forced, like it was written by a student assigned to write a play about characters learning lessons. And the little parts about setting limits in the bedroom where she wants to establish them and the MMC has to go into a paragraph about why she should feel comfortable setting them, and that it doesn’t bother him at all, and how she should feel empowered to do so feels like a PSA for college students on boundaries and is completely unnecessary, which ruined that scene for me. Like nothing ruins a spice scene more than the FMC suddenly becoming uncomfortable and then feeling worthless because she did feel uncomfortable, and the MMC comforting her about it for a page or more while she feels self conscious. I get that it’s part of her growth but fit it in somewhere else (or not at all please). Overall there were a lot of scenes that made me roll my eyes because the “lessons learned” were so overly cheesy, and the FMC was so pathetic and annoying about why she felt so worthless even after like 20 times having the exact same conversation (I get real mindsets take time to change but I’m not reading this for realism), but if you can overlook that I can recommend this as a decent read. ["

"I’ve read 157 books so far this year, and this is by far the best one. Don’t be fooled by the early spicy scene into thinking this one is all spice and no substance. While the spice is present, well written, and not shy about taking up a lot of pages, the story is what held me in its grip. A lovely blend of Labyrinth and Beauty and the Beast, with some other elements thrown in, I love this story, I love the characters, I love the angst and drama, the growth and development of those characters, and the satisfying conclusion. Though the author plans a sequel, this does NOT end on a cliffhanger or leave you wanting (at least, not wanting in a bad way). If there were no sequel, I would still be satisfied, but I will also be looking forward to returning to Enver and Nell. ["
