"I really loved The Library of Amorlin by Kalyn Josephson. It has all the elements I adore in fantasy—talking animals, a magical library, and a mysterious librarian. These cozy details give the story a warm, almost comforting atmosphere at times, yet it never loses its sense of wonder or high-stakes fantasy. The tension builds beautifully as the Kalthos ambassador plots to destroy the library from within. She recruits Kasira, a talented con artist, to pose as the new assistant and subtly weaken both the library and its librarian. Watching Kasira navigate her elaborate schemes while slowly finding herself drawn to the library, its magical beasts, and the power it holds was one of my favorite parts of the story. Her internal conflict adds depth and heart to the intrigue. I would highly recommend this book to fans of Shield of Sparrows and The Bridge Kingdom. If you enjoy political tension, slow-burn character development, and a touch of cozy magic wrapped in high fantasy stakes, this book is absolutely worth picking up. ["

An incredible magical read!

"This book was pure magic. From the very beginning, I was dragged into this world that I knew would conquer my heart. It is a great start to a series; we were introduced to the characters and the main conflict in a way that wasn't overwhelming but also not lacking information. Right off the start, we get to know Kasira, a very morally grey protagonist whose life has been hard to say the least, and now she is forced to slay magical beasts under the command of the kingdom of Kalthos as a way to pay her sentence for being a con artist. She is a very smart character. I enjoyed her way of thinking to the very end, and the growth and self-discovery that she did. Kasira is blackmailed into going to The Library of Amorlin and con her way as the new Assistant to the librarian. The Library is a character in its own right. I love how it's almost a living thing, with mages and furry servants. Allaster is our MMC and also the Librarian, who is determined to prove that Kasira is a spy and determined to protect all magical beasts. Oh, how I loved this complex man. He is reluctant to trust, but he is so passionate and curious about her. This is a very slow burn, but the chemistry is there, brewing. I loved the whole plot of the book, the political turmoil and all the magic that's left to uncover. I really enjoyed reading this book, I'm obsessed with this world, and I'll wait impatiently for book 2. ["

"For older fantasy fans - do you remember that feeling of opening up a well-worn mass market paperback in the Fantasy section of the library and sitting down to embark on a truly new fantastical adventure? This. This is that. I love books that start in media res and Josephson does so masterfully. The pace of her writing sets the tone for a story that has places to go and people to trick. My favorite part of her writing, though, is the way she writes Kasira's plotting. It relies on a flashback style along the same likes as Six of Crows or Ocean's Eleven (which also means sometimes it's stressful as a reader who wants to believe the best of people, no matter what they tell themselves). I adored Kasira, Allaster, and May. Both Kasira and Allaster were such intelligent characters which made both their PoVs exciting to read; and May, not a PoV character but the primary support/secondary character brought so much depth to both Kasira's and Allaster's parts of the story. Iylis is my best friend, because a snow leopard "spirit" caretaker is like. Goals. The beasts are SO COOL. They were part of what immediately transported me into high fantasy of years past, with an entirely new bestiary that is sometimes familiar but usually not. Gievra is best boy and I love him forever. I was left with SO many unanswered questions that I cannot wait to see expanded upon over the course of the series. There is something going on beyond what Kasira and Allaster know or can see, and I want to know!!! "I consider this more of a 3.5 star book. It was good but not that kept me wanting to read longer than 2 hrs. I finished this book thinking how Kasira managed being a con. Her life literally consisted if lying all the time that it eventually consumed her. To her credit, I would do whatever I could to save myself from a prison, but utilizing others for political interest? Wow. Towards the end, I got annoyed with Kasira and actually rolled my eyes and took a frustrating breath, every opportunity could've been used to save them all, but she only though of herself. In the end, it was all worth it, though I think that this book ended well enough that didn't result in a serious cliffhanger. ["

I’ve had the opportunity to grab an arc copy of this through NetGalley and really enjoyed the world this is set in. I feel like I can see the colors and world so well - it gives a cozy & whimsical feel as you’re reading even with all of the lies, plotting and secrecy between Kasira and Allaster (both of whom are strong a FMC and MMC). While it’s not super action-oriented, the plotting and scheming were so good and kept me hooked the entire. I definitely recommend adding this to your TBR and getting your hands on a copy of the STUNNING deluxe edition ✨ ["
