About this book

Ali Hazelwood meets Dungeons & Dragons in this enemies-to-lovers fantasy academia romcom where rival grad student wizards are forced to work together without killing—or falling for—each other. Will they conjure love, or evoke chaos? Two rival wizards are about to find out. Sebastian Walsh: Evocation Department. Human. The first of his family to pick college over the military. Elethior Tourael: Conjuration Department. Half-elf. Pretentious asshole. The latest legacy Tourael at Lesiara U. Both: Mageus Research Grant finalists. Sebastian refuses to let anyone snatch this away, least of all a snob riding on old money. But what’s worse than a nemesis stealing your grant? You could both get it. Under the condition you work together. Sebastian is in hell. Thio’s broody. Takes up their shared lab space with his projects . . . and biceps. Brings treats for Sebastian’s familiar . . . . . . and is nothing like Sebastian thought. When Sebastian’s past with the Touraels forces him to choose his research or Thio, the decision should be simple. But while working with his rival is volatile . . . falling for his rival might blow up Sebastian’s future. A Macmillan Audio production from Bramble Books

This One Surprised Me - In the Best Ways!

"I picked up this book off my TBR because I needed something a little different from what I had been reading. Let me tell you, this story had more heart and depth than it had any business having given its cheerful cover. It has depression, anxiety, and PTSD rep. Broken family dynamics, the MMCs living with the stress of living up to or giving the middle finger to their family legacies, and two co-dependent, trauma bonded besties facing how to have a healthier friendship when they graduate from college. There is also traumatic brain injury rep, which as a health care worker who has had many TBI patients, I felt was well written in a way that really resonated with me. It is very much like what I experience regularly with my own patients and their family members. And on a lighter note, if you are a Dungeons and Dragons or RPG player in any format, there are a lot of bits that you'll pick up on that will make you grin. Even so, you do *not* need to be a fan of those things to read this, it just adds a little extra layer to the story that makes it fun for those who are. The pacing is great despite it being a shorter novel. There is plenty of humor, angst, and love in equal measure throughout the story. And the spice is definitely spicing between Sebastian and Thio - those boys have chemistry that is total fire. In my opinion, it gets 🌶️🌶️🌶️ for the smexy times. Overall, this book was a good time. I blew through it in the course of an afternoon, and was a nice change of pace from some of my other reads. It is absolutely worth picking up. ["

Magical and Beautiful and Real

"We all love a good enemies to lovers, "I'll kill them for what they did to you" kind of book. But when those characters come with very real pain? And they learn to heal from them in community? I was blown away by this secret little story. Breaking away from toxic family, true forgiveness from one's that rejected you, and leaning into love when your trauma begs you to destroy... it was so refreshing to read love that looks realistic. Thank you for this beautiful read!!! ["
