"I just love the world-building in this series, from the setting to the magic systems to the characters. I also love the emotional depth of the stories, and that the sole focus of that depth wasn’t on the romance. I know that romance is something that readers have come to expect with Nora Roberts novels, but the fact that it isn’t given the priority is something I’ve come to love about her fantasy novels, that her characters are so multidimensional with stories that involve more than romance. For me, it’s the relationships that truly make this story for me, whether those of friendship, of family, and of romance. I adore Breen as a protagonist, love her story as she changes and grows and finds her strength. She is so determined to learn, to become stronger in all the skills she needs to battle and defeat Odran, but she never forgets to care for the people around her. I also love her determination to be true to herself, to never compromise again and who and what she is… for anyone. That’s something that’s often difficult to do in reality, so I love the empowerment of that in her character. There’s much to love in this book, from a cast of great characters to the gorgeous setting, from the rich magic mythology to the twisted storyline, from the slow moments to the action and betrayal. "I absolutely loved reading The Awakening by Nora Roberts and immediately started the second book in the trilogy, The Becoming. Here we have Breen brining her best friend into her new world with her and Marco is the best friend we all need. He was determined to stand by her and all his new friends and family. Keegan and Breen know there is a lot at stake and yet, are still drawn to each other. Now they prepare for the coming battle, but who will win the war and what will be the cost? I loved diving back into this world and all the characters. I loved watching Breen be accepted and loved freely and seeing her grow and become the woman she is meant to be. There is a lot of what is to come with some lighthearted moments and family connections. I am loving this series! Happy reading! ["

I was completely immersed in this book!

"This second book in the series was great! The plot moved much faster and thickened as it went. It was much more enjoyable than the first book. I struggled so hard with the first one until I was half way through it when the action picked up. This book was all action and adventure, so much happened that I didn’t want to put the book down. You were more fully immersed in the fairy world with dragons and trolls, and saw more of Talamh. I liked the contrast of settings between the inviting, calm, farm life in valley and the beautiful but frenetic setting in the capital. I also liked how we saw more of the dark world, the dark lord, and his followers. Odran was definitely much more scarier and intimidating than the first book seeing what he was capable of and how he treated those around him. Shana was a character that even though I disliked her because she wasn’t a good person and did horrible things, I wanted to read more about her or what she would do next because she was that good of a villain. This book was filled with a lot of “omg” moments and moments where I felt like I had to read as fast as I could to see what would happen next. I’m ready for the third book! ["

"I did not pick this up right after the first book; but Roberts is such a vivid writer, I’m sure it will all come right back. It did. The world-buildings is a solid blend of legend, myth, Wicca, etc. So, it came back easily. Marco added quite a bit :>). Oddly, I was so-so about getting back to reading it when I thought about it. But I enjoyed it quite a bit while I was reading it. A nice distraction from the time of occupation. I did, however, chose not to read the last book. ["
