Andreea B.Best series I've read in a while
"I waited until I was able to finish this series in order to write a review as in the past it has happened that a really good series disappointed with the last book and the rushed ending. And I am so glad that THIS WASN'T THE CASE HERE. I also don't usually leave reviews for books, but I just had to write something for this series. I enjoy complex stories and words with characters that go through a huge development and with which you can totally resonate and this is exactly what Lady of Darkness provided me with. I have loved everything about this book and mostly I adored how through the series I could literally feel the time passing together with the characters. At the end of the series I really stopped and thought "We indeed came such a long way from where we started...". The world building and the way everything was slowly revealed to me as a reader together with the characters? Purely beautiful. Made me unable to put the book down because I just wanted to be able to find out more, to dicover more of the entire prophecy on which the story is based. The development of the characters? Magnificent. The way they grew and changed throughout the book and their experiences, the way they developed so many beautiful relationships and the way you are presented with such a huge variety of characters and behaviours. You grow to attached to these characters through the way they all get their own chapters and you get to see their own points of view, their own secrets and stories get revealed to you and all of them are just so well developed. I can totally say that the Inner Court will forever have a special place in my heart. I have to admit, the complexity of the world sometimes makes you a bit confused and it is a bit hard to understand at some points and you might be forced to reread stuff or stop and try to remember some details, but it definitely wasn't something that stopped me from giving this book and this series 5 stars. Also the maps and the detailed character lists from each book surely were such an amazing feature of the book. Totally helped with the rather big number of characters. I will be recommending this book to everyone who is in for a whole rollercoaster of emotions, who is willing to be completely absorbed into such an amazing world and who is ready to find something close to a true family in these characters. I am not sure how good and helpful my review will be, but as someone who is rather picky when it comes to what they read, I totally encourage you to start this series. Hope is indeed for the dreamers and I hope this series will be able to receive all the deserved support and popularity. Congratulations Melissa K. Roehrich for managing to make me forget the real world and live in such an amazing one for a while! Will totally be looking forward to your next works. ["

Jaycie HThe Lady of Darkness series
"What a wild and fulfilling ride. The ending made me sob. This was a fantastic series, I loved every moment with these characters and in this world. Not sure I’ve read anything with such great and constant bickering!! Finishing this was bittersweet but I already look forward to my future reread. I would rate Lady of Darkness a 4-4.25 as a whole, despite thinking the individual books were 4.5-5’s, as I enjoyed each moment of escapism they brought me. This is for the romantasy girlies who are okay with the occasional corny moments. It had a lot of the fantasy elements I love and helped with the 10 different book hangovers I have while also creating a new one. It drew a lot from themes and tropes in the Sarah J. Maasaverse which plays a role in why I think I loved it so much. While unique in its own ways, along with if it included more descriptive fight scenes, it would have been a full 5 if it had less borrowed material. I also felt there to be a lot of build up with scattered action, but it was lacking heavy explicit fight scenes, which I assumed this last book would be filled with. The scheming and political intrigue were great! However, there were too many incidences where something exciting happened on the battlefield front and instead of it being described, it jumped forward to a time after where one of the MC was safe and murdered everyone. I wish the action DESCRIBED more! I also wish there was more witch content. Sometimes I struggle when there are too many character POVs however, I felt like most in this series were there for the greater purpose of the story and thus there weren’t many I wanted to skip to read. Callan’s arc is notable because after a certain point, I didn’t want to skip his chapters! I loved the series and am content with how it wrapped up. I will read anything and everything Melissa writes moving forward. ["
