"I can’t recommend the Lady of Darkness series enough. This series is emotionally charged, expertly written, and checks all the boxes of a dark romantasy series. Lady of Ashes is book 3 in the series, and a lot of truths come to light. There are vivid torture scenes, death, and a lot of triggers so make sure you read those trigger warnings. This was an audiobook reread, and the narration is amazing. I love the way Scarlett’s mind works, how she works things out, and is learning to lean on her found family more and more. The supporting characters are some of the best I’ve read. This series has had a serious chokehold on me for 3 years and this reread has been so much fun. Scarlett & Sorin are such beautiful characters with a lot of depth. That cliffhanger got me just as much this time I read the book, so make sure you have the next book in the series to dive into! "Honestly, this series has always been good but this book was great. The growth in the characters and all of the complicated, moving pieces has been a wonderful thing to watch. What i love about this one is that our sassy, irreverent, secret-keeping assassin main character has to pay for her choices. I have been getting a little tired of the bad ass teenaged assassin trope but Scarlett is different than the rest: she is held accountable in this book and it was so refreshing to see. She made a major mistake and she hurt people and she’s not all-knowing, and her relationships suffer from this. And that’s so realistic. The last one in this series disappointed me because it didn’t feel as fresh as the first one, there were some overdone tropes, themes, and even conversations that I have been seeing too much in fantasy. but this one blew me away! Spoilers: I loved the development of Tava and Callan. For a while, I thought Callan and Eliza were a thing but Tava kind of emerging as Scarlett’s foil in a lot of ways was really cool and authentic to see. We maintain our love for Scarlett while also getting to see the POV of someone who she hurt and who does not fit in her world. So we get the actual selfless and witty Tava, who makes no big show of her deeds and schemes, and is soft and sunshine and we can love both of them just as much. I’d love to see her story develop even more!! I love Sorin, but he’s mr possessive. like he outdoes any other fae character i think. brava to the author for pulling that off haha. Cyrus deserves the world and I hope he gets it. Talwyn’s chapters were a slog, but I mean this as a compliment. She is so hard to like, and yet we know why she’s the way she is (kind of). A lot of her hurt and her pain could be solved with some therapy, but she has serious issues and we can see how her very frustrating brain works during her chapters while she makes the worst choices ever… I root for her, but I also know she will disappoint and play the lonely victim. I hope she gets a redemption arc in the next book. ["

"Loved it! So much information is finally given. And the storyline didn’t feel so black and white this time. I enjoyed finally knowing who everyone was and the powers they possessed etc. It made it more fun to try and put puzzle pieces together and theorize. The first two books and even the beginning of this book at first felt like you were constantly going in circles with the information. Scarlett’s heritage has changed so much and the rules continued to change. It was getting hard to follow and keep straight. But we finally started to get some answers that stuck and a better storyline to hopefully continue. I’m excited for book 4. ["

"LoA is a great book for fans of ToG, FBAA, and any other kick-a** female assassin lovers. The series has a slight enemies to lovers trope and LoA contains loads of action, suspense, romance, comedy and heartfelt dialog! There are several spicy scenes, and as it is the spiciest of the 3 books, I would rate it 3 or 4 stars out of 5 (depending on your spice "expertise"). LoA is a book about uncovering secrets, some mind blowing and some heartbreaking. While I don't think the book needs trigger warnings, trauma is discussed between the MCs and apparent. I liked the book because many questions that needed to be answered from LoS were and it was done in a skillful way, spread throughout the chapters. The character development is phenomenal! I appreciated getting insight into some of my favorites' backstories. There are many funny moments and also some tear jerseys. Unfortunately, this book does end on another cliffhanger and I have SO many questions about the last bit of the book 😭 I feel I didn't rate it 5 stars because it was a lot more information to take in vs the previous books and I was more focused on connecting theories rather than just enjoying it, though I will probably enjoy it more with my reread! Can't wait for the 4th book! ["
