About this book

The stunning sequel to Daughter of the Moon Goddess delves deeper into beloved Chinese mythology, concluding the epic story of Xingyin—the daughter of Chang’e and the mortal archer, Houyi—as she battles a grave new threat to the realm, in this powerful tale of love, sacrifice, and hope. After winning her mother’s freedom from the Celestial Emperor, Xingyin thrives in the enchanting tranquility of her home. But her fragile peace in this Asian fantasy is threatened by the discovery of a strange magic on the moon and the unsettling changes in the Celestial Kingdom as the emperor tightens his grip on power. While Xingyin is determined to keep clear of the rising danger, the discovery of a shocking truth spurs her into a perilous confrontation. Forced to flee her home once more, Xingyin and her companions venture to unexplored lands of the Immortal Realm, encountering legendary creatures and shrewd monarchs, beloved friends and bitter adversaries. In a journey filled with political intrigue and shifting alliances, Xingyin has to overcome past grudges and enmities to forge a new path forward, seeking aid where she never imagined she would. As an unspeakable terror sweeps across the realm, Xingyin must uncover the truth of her heart and claw her way through devastation—to rise against this evil before it destroys everything she holds dear, and the worlds she has grown to love . . . even if doing so demands the greatest price of all.

FAVORITE FANTASY SERIES

"How do I find the words to convey the beauty and magnificence of this series? This series completely touched my heart and fully surprised me. I haven't read anything like it before! The pacing is fast and tense, the characters have incredible growth throughout, and the writing is perfection in every way. Heart of the Sun Warrior did not disappoint. It is a worthy sequel to Daughter of the Moon Goddess, taking the story to new heights. There are greater consequences and plot twists that create lots of tension. The love triangle is so expertly explored in this book as well; I didn't know which way I was leaning for most of the book. But I think my favorite part was the character growth. Each character had their own things to learn: forgiveness, strength, respect, bravery, overcoming grief, unconditional love. I marked so many passages of life lessons to learn from this book. Without a doubt, this is my favorite fantasy series and one I will return to again. PLEASE read this series! Especially if you love Chinese folklore, dragons, hidden identity, well-done love triangles, enchantments, strong family bonds, monster battles, and exquisite writing. Liked the adventure. Would recommend but the love story needed more development.

"I enjoyed this novel! It had adventure, love, and heartbreak. The love story was my struggle. Why do more of these types of novels have that 3-way Iove story where the heroine is genuinely in love with 2 men that seem to love her equally, sacrificing all for her, going against, their familes for her, then to be set aside because the other one did that 1 other thing that sets them apart? Meanwhile, the person who first showed the love is left alone to pine for them? In my mind, true love stories only have one Hero, which turned out to be the one I ultimately rooted for, but the heroine was in my mind never portrayed as resolved to him alone. There was always this love triangle where she was portrayed as loving them equally when the reader could see that there was only 1 person who, throughout was always there for her, even in his tortured way. Why did we have to wait till the end of the novel to catch a glimpse of it? When could have been realized sooner? Where the Hero and the readers could have a longer opportunity to enjoy it. ["
