About this book

“You made a bargain... Your soul for his―and now, you are mine.” In New Orleans, one rule stands above the rest: never cross the Gage crime family. Their word is law. Their enemies disappear. And their prince―lethal, beautiful, and utterly inhuman―does not grant mercy. Cate Holloway has spent her life avoiding them―until her brother makes a mistake that cannot be undone. Now, to save him, she must face Lachlan Gage, the dark prince of the city's underworld. But Lachlan doesn’t deal in money or favors. He deals in souls. Bound by a bargain she never wanted, Cate is dragged into a world she never should have seen―where shadows whisper secrets, fae courts plot in the dark, and her captor is far more than just a crime lord. With only thirty days to break the curse that binds her, Cate has two choices: outwit the ruthless fae who holds her fate… or surrender to the dangerous temptation he offers. Because if she fails, she won’t just lose her soul. She’ll lose her heart―to the one being she swore to hate. The Filthy Rich Fae series is best enjoyed in order. Wow this is addicting

"Cate works in a chaotic New Orleans emergency room where Clover, an increasingly popular and dangerous addition is wreaking havoc. Most nights are filled with overdoses and trauma cases, and her worry for her brother, Channing, is a constant hum in the back of her mind. The worst part? The same criminal syndicate behind Clover also owns the hospital. The layers of corruption run deep, and Cate is stuck in the middle of it. Everything blows apart when her worst fear comes true: Channing is wheeled in on a gurney. The rage she feels, not just at the syndicate boss but at her brother for making a deal with the last person he should have, is explosive. Her brother is her whole world, and seeing him in this position wrecks her. The first chapter stays mostly in Cate’s POV, though the audiobook does give us dual narration later on. In her desperation to protect Channing, she makes a series of abrupt choices that land her right in the path of Lachlan Gage, a name everyone in the city knows, synonymous with power, danger, and absolutely nothing good. Their first encounter leaves her a mix of furious and awestruck. His presence is dark, commanding, mafia-coded… and terrifyingly magnetic. When she strikes a bargain with him, the story shifts into something even more intense. And then, boom, the Otherworld comes into play. Fae bargains, twisted magic, and a Fae Prince with secrets stacked on secrets. I loved the way the Fae elements blended into the gritty, criminal backdrop. I still can’t piece everything together (in a good way), and the mystery just keeps unraveling. The chemistry between Lachlan and Cate? Off. The. Charts. Hot. They’re both stubborn, both protective, both fighting this intense pull. It’s enemies-to-lovers with a slow burn that finally ignites in the best way. His dark, dominant, protective energy is absolute perfection. The ending? Had me in a chokehold. Once the story really took off, I couldn’t put it down. Fae bargains, fated mates, impossible choices—this book is packed with morally gray characters, political court intrigue, dangerous magic, and a heroine who never stops fighting. Cate and Lachlan are addictive together, and every layer of this world made me want more. I’m absolutely continuing this series—no question. ["

UGH, the FMC is ANNOYING.

"I went back and forth between the Kindle version of this book and the audio version of this book on Audible and I'm not sure which one I prefer, honestly. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– This book follows our FMC, Cate, as she works as a nurse in Gage Memorial Hospital, which is owned by the Gage family of New Orleans. She has heard all of the rumors surrounding the Gage family and knows to stay away from them. This all changes when she finds that her brother, Channing, is tied up with the Gage family. She makes a bargain with Lachlan to give him her nights in exchange for keeping her brother safe without realizing the implications it would have on her life, moving forward. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– OMG, Cate drove me nuts! I wanted to hit her over the head for most of this book, to be completely honest. I was so excited to finally be done with the book just so I wouldn't have to listen to Cate's insufferable back and forth. She's the whole reason I lowered my rating from last year from 5 stars to 3 stars. I normally am not petty like this but I just can't look past her pithy banter with everyone long enough to have a more objective look at this book for a better rating. That's not to say I won't be reading the sequel because I'll be reading that one as well after I tone down my currently reading a tab a bit more. I had started reading this one again just so I can remember what happened before moving on to the sequel. I think the only saving grace for this book is Lachlan and his family. I feel the Gage family got a bad rep for all the wrong reasons, though I can understand how and where the rumors started. I'll always believe that rumors like that have some basis of truth in them and this isn't an exception. I was also glad to see that this series has ties to Geneva's "Filthy Rich Vampires" series, though I wasn't surprised in the least. I don't think I caught the mention the first time I read this book but I'm glad I was paying enough attention during this read-through to catch it. I would say you should read this book just because I'm hoping this series will be as good as I believe her "Filthy Rich Vampire" series is. I'm biased for that very reason. lol I hope the sequel is just as captivating, though I'm not holding my breath. We'll see. ["
