Enzo is kinda mid, but that’s okay. The introduction of Adrian was incredible, and he is easily becoming my favorite character. Waiting a year to see more of him will be rough. The plot twist at the end was both unexpected but unsurprising. If you read Heavenly Bodies, I definitely recommend continuing on to the sequel. ["

"Holy. Crap. This book– and this series– are amazing. Astonishing. Absolutely memorable. Riveting. One thing I really love about Imani is that she isn’t afraid to sprinkle in major events throughout the entire length of the book, rather than saving it all for the end. I was immediately drawn into the story (although I was already eager to hear about what happens to Enzo), and from the get to there was already a massive task for Elara to accomplish. Her mission to rescue Enzo was a story within itself– how she had to train, what she encountered, what she sacrificed for him. And then. AND THEN. We get pirates and mermaids and a GANGPLANK SCENE?! I never wanted the characters to get off this ship. This was my first encounter with pirates and mermaids in a fantasy novel (I know!!) and it was amazing. Adrian is a precious barnacle boy that needs to be protected at all costs. And how he seamlessly integrated with the rest of the pride?! And then the pride had to deal with the Dark, and in doing so we got an ending I NEVER could have predicted. I thought I knew where the story was going and guessed the ending. I absolutely thought it was going to be an ACOMAF type ending where someone whisks away the bride to be. But NOPE. We got secret identities and betrayal and my jaw was on the floor the entire time. Overall, I left with the same exasperated and perplexed feeling I had when I finished Heavenly Bodies, and that emotional connection to the book and the way I devoured it was what made me love it so much. So it’s safe to say I devoured and love Fallen Stars is the same. Now I count down the days until October for Holy Monsters!! ["
