Good series, great boxed set

"I don't know why they're selling boxed sets of unfinished series, but this one is a lovely set. I bought it because the third book had just released and cost over half the price of the boxed set, so I figured it was a good deal. The set is a lovely hardback edition of the Crescent City series so far. Read on for a review of the books included. This is the first SJM series I've read in which the first book was great. In both ACOTAR and ToG, the first book was the weakest, even though the series as a whole ended up being good. I was prepared to endure another slog, but Crescent City hits the ground running. This is an urban fantasy, so they have modern technology and magic. I joked about the first book being a buddy cop show with wings, but it's very cozy and easy to read. I'm not a fan of mixing angels and demons with fae and aliens, but somehow, they're all here, and the books are still good. The books aren't ToG. They probably won't live in your head for the rest of time and make you cry every time you think about Thirteen or closing gates. Still, there are some very memorable scenes that manage to be both high-stakes and hilarious. (And you'll find out what three things Ruhn Danaan knows.) And there is a crossover with ACOTAR. I can't tell you without spoiling it, but it is worth continuing when CC starts to slow down. The crossover honestly changed how I felt about some of the ACOTAR characters, and I'm not entirely sure I'll see them the same again. ["
