A Soul to Keep: Duskwalker Brides, Book 1
Opal Reyne
All Mayumi ever wanted was to hunt Demons. After being discharged from the Demonslayer guild, Mayumi chose to isolate herself within the forest. The best place to hunt and kill Demons. But, one night, she’s surprised when a different monster is lured by her baits. Just before she unleashes an arrow that’s aimed to kill, Mayumi pauses. She realises she’s seen that skulled, feline face before and that it had once saved her life. All Faunus ever wanted was her. After the Demon King cracked his skull, Faunus returns to watch over the only human he has ever cared for. He knows what his future holds, she would never become his bride, but he wants to spend what remains of his life protecting her. He never expected that she would ever befriend him, or that she would openly desire him. She’s as fiery as her burning passion, and he’s desperate to let her consume him. But his time in this world grows short, and Faunus doesn’t know how he can be with Mayumi when he knows nothing will save him.
LuckywaterratBawdy, monster-loving awesomeness
"I loved everything about A Soul to Touch! Mayumi is a savvy, grumpy, independent person and worked hard to become an elite demon slayer. She's completely different from the previous two heroines, which means that her romance goes *very* differently. Mayumi and Kitty are flawed and they felt more real than those we've seen before in this series. The main characters are well-defined and distinct so that they do not seem to be the same but slightly different in each book. Speaking of which, this is actually book-length and I binge read it. SPOILERS: Faunus is pretty cool and much more fun and modern than the previous MMCs. He's had pretty significant trauma that he seems to deal with pretty well. I loved the cameo of Orpheus and Magnus - yay! Also, we meet the Mavka's father in this book, but their mother Witch Owl sadly does not make an appearance. There are major revelations in this book about the world that make me hope for a human-Mavka alliance against Jabez and his demon army - I hope that I'm guessing correctly about the future direction of the series. Nevertheless, I loved this book and I'm going to have to re-read A Soul to Keep to see if I like Orpheus more than Faunus. The author continues to deliver the feels along with inventive and hot sexy times. And this series is totally great for fans of furries, monster eggplant, and SFM fans. The series will corrupt you if you weren't a fan before, like it did me 😀 😍 ["

JessSurprisingly sweet but unsurprisingly spicy
"After violating an order, Mayumi was discharged from the Demonslayer guild. But that doesn’t mean she’s gonna give up hunting and killing demons. In her deceased parents cottage deep in the forests, Mayumi is either drinking or baiting demons. But one night something else arrives: a Duskwalker. While she hesitates to kill it at first because of it’s sheer size (she’s not sure she can kill it by herself), she fully hits the brakes once she sees that it has a cat skull. She remembers this Duskwalker. She saw it as a child and it saved her. Faunus or “Kitty” has been watching over Mayumi ever since that night where he saved her and he’s vowed to protect her even if it costs him his life. No surprise but I loved this! It’s been over a year since I’ve been in the Duskwalker world and I couldn’t be happier to be back. Yeah it’s got apocalyptic vibes, demons and other dangers that could easily kill you, but it also has these giant lovable monsters and seeing them find love just turns me into the biggest puddle of goo imaginable. And I’m honestly so jealous of these humans. Faunus is such a cinnamon roll for Mayumi. He will literally do anything to make her happy from playing board games, to chopping down trees for her wood supply, to hoisting her up on his shoulders so she can clean out her gutters…. He just adores her and you can see it in everything he does. Mayumi is my girl!! She is so unapologetic when it comes to her desires and pleasure and what she wants is to be railed by Faunus (girl me too). She isn’t fond of human connections but she’s also very lonely so when her and Faunus start communicating, she is quick to invite him to her house. There’s a deep sense of trust immediately between them and she doesn’t want to brush it aside or lose it. She’s always been a take charge kind of woman, and so she begins the fast plan to befriend and bed the Duskwalker. 5⭐️ 4-4.5🔥 -What to expect: 3rd in the series Monster romance MF Huge size difference He purrs for her She brushes his fur Cuddling for heat He catches her self pleasuring Copious amounts of 💦 He hates baths but will take one for her Tentacle & tail play DP “Who did this to you?” He’s got a bit of a breeding kink Check author’s list of CW/TW at the beginning of the book. (I also shared one in my Goodreads review). ["
