"This was a fun novel that I really enjoyed. A friend recommended it to me. I really like the world it’s set in and the premise that the main character keeps dying when she hits 20 and resets to being 15 and being dumped by her betrothed. She’s great at adapting to changes and is a good puzzle solver in figuring out motives (it helps that a few people she knew before come into her life again). I look forward to reading the next one. "This is pretty much like Ground Hog Day but with a little bit more intrigue. The main character is a strong female protagonist but one that is done right. She is strong but they don't make her OP or anything. Plus, the romance is very mature when it comes to how the characters react to one another. The political intrigue ranges from interesting to bland, but the main focus is on the main character and her attempt to make things better through the knowledge she has of the future. She has selfish desires but she has a heart of gold that wants to improve the world in a realistic way. ["

"I enjoyed the anime and picked up the light novel to continue the full story. The anime is very true to the story of this first volume, so I didn't learn anything new here. I plan on continuing the series, but I might skip the next volume, as roughly this volume covered the first half of the anime, and I imagine the second volume will be the second half. The writing is quick and straight to the point, which makes it an easy read, but when you've already watched the plot, and know what happens it isn't necessarily that exciting to read. The overall story is a fun time. The premise is that a girl has to keep reliving her life over and over again due to her untimely death at age 20. This death, while the cause is different each time, is overall due to a war created by a young emperor's destruction. It's not a restart from birth each time; it's from an important turning point in her life at age 15. She remembers all of her past lives, though, and uses her knowledge and skills gained to experience a new and improved life each time. In her last life, the 6th reincarnation, she is literally stabbed and killed by that emperor. Now in her 7th loop, in a bizarre turn of events, she ends up receiving an offer of marriage by that emperor. She's worked hard these past 6 lives, so why not become royalty and live out a carefree life? To my limited understanding, the plot is playing off of two common troupes used in Japanese light novels: reincarnation and a main character who realizes she is a villainess and destined to die by the end of the story (commonly a villainess character in an otome dating sim game). That's at least where the title is certainly coming from. But the main character here, Rishe, isn't really a villainess. She has just kept dying due to the war caused by the emperor, and thus is generally on an opposing side or country to him. As for her goal of living a care free life, you'll quickly learn that's not really what Rishe is built for. She's used her past 6 lives to learn about the world and pick up useful skills each time. It's in her character to keep doing this. It actually makes her a really well developed Mary Sue, because you understand why she actually is a Mary Sue-- she worked hard to be one. Then you look forward to how she uses her knowledge and skills to gain her own advantage. Obviously the story is a romance, too, which also adds to how fun it is. This is the first Japanese light novel I've read. I know a lot of anime these days are based off light novels. I would say these are definitely easy reads likely meant for a young adult audience. If you've watched the anime, I'd say you'd definitely be okay to skip the volumes that the anime covers. I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys shoujo manga and wants to try a light novel. ["
